Google it. There is information online about MK foundation which supports breast cancer research and domestic violence victims. The site does note the form the donation needs to take if you are seeking a receipt for tax deduction purposes.
Do the math.

Thanks for all of the replies.  I did go to Pinktruth before I came here and did some research-that was how I managed to avoid the other invitations to things. I also straight out asked and kind of got answer I didn't really understand-something about something her unit/group is doing on its own but will give to the MK charity?  I didn't want to make her upset so I just quit asking questions. All I got out of it was there would be lotss of gift baskets, chances to win product, etc and if you make a purchase X amount goes to charity-so the goal was to sell product.

From your last thread in June, 2016, I got the impression that your friend was outright harassing you about inviting you to MK events, buying MK products.  If I'm not mistaken, at that time, you said you were going to stand firm no matter what and decline all her invitations. I'd give you the same advice -- stay away from all MK-related causes. If you wish to give to a charity, why not give directly to the charity on your own? That's what I would do.

It is a double duty sales pitch

Raise money for breast cancer research (that is great), but you will get blind-sided with the sales pitch of joinging MK.

I know it happened to me. I was stupid and joined MK, tried to sell the stuff and couldn't sell it to anyone. Am not a hard sell person.

the minute i stopped selling, all the "friends of mine from MK" didn't know who I was. They looked thru you when you meet them on the street.

@Puzzle Piece. Good advice! Actually, it's much better for any group to be given the donation directly! Professional fundraisers get a nice cut of the proceeds, not to mention they can be very persuasive (they seldom take no for an answer!)! My mil was threatened by one once, telling her if she didn't donate the fire department might not be able to find her house if she ever needed them! My fil was Chief of Police!

Never underestimate the power of kindness.
