Fun Thread...At What Age Did Your Children Start Buying Their Own Gifts for Others...and What?

I thought this might be fun. At what age did your children decide to buy their own gifts for others out of their allowance? And what did they buy you or others?

I remember saving my allowance when I was quite young...maybe age 7 or 8...and buying my mother and dad gifts from Woolworth's or Ben Franklin. I don't remember what my allowance was...not much. Maybe our parents gave us a dollar or something for Christmas shopping.

I can't remember many of the gifts I purchased, but I purchased my mother a big stinky bottle of Blue Waltz perfume, which I later found out she dumped out and put another perfume in the bottle. One year I bought my dad a bunch of plain old key rings, which I think he used for the rest of his life.

Got any good stories about gifts you purchased for others?
