Don't worry about tomorrow because God is already taking care
of it. Lord, help me set aside needless worry and anxiety so that
I have time to do all that I need to do today.
Scripture for the day:
"My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings
to you. For you have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from
falling, so that I may walk before God in the light of life." ~Psalm
56:12
Meditation for the day:
I can say thank you to God for everything, even the seeming trials and
worries. I can strive to be grateful and humble. My whole attitude
toward God can be one of gratitude. I can be glad for the things I
have received. I can pass on what God reveals to me. I believe that
more truths can flow in, as I go along in this new way of life.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may be grateful for the things I have received and do
not deserve. I pray that this gratitude will make me truly humble.
Hello my friends! Today's blessing among many was getting together with DH's siblings at his brother, Ron's place, for a big lunch, which included two cousins he has left in our area. They are older than he is, and wanted to get together with them - it was a good time - nice visiting - wonderful food, my goodness she had two different kinds of soups, all kinds of breads and lunch meats, cheeses, and bars and almond bark pretzels and dessert was cheese cake with strawberries over it! I didn't need supper at all, it was a later lunch. Still not hungry! Ollie was in the kennel from 10:30 until we got home around 4. All was fine, but tomorrow afternoon when Father Jerry comes over and stays for supper, I wonder how Ollie will behave then. If he's too wild, in the kennel he'll go! Tomorrow is day 4 that we have him. He's just a little over a year old, so he's got so much extra energy, but he is taming down, and when we don't want to play ball with him, we say no, put it away and he goes for his chewy and is quiet. Praying for all your needs, thanks much for your prayers for us!!
Just for today, Lord
I will live through the next 12 hours and not try to tackle all of life's problems at once.
I will improve my mind. I will learn something useful. I will learn something that requires effort, thought, and concentration.
I will be agreeable. I will look my best, speak in well-modulated voice, be courteous and considerate.
I will not find fault with friend, relative or colleague. I will not try to change or improve anyone other than myself.
I will have a program. I might not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two enemies, hurry and indecision.
I will do a good turn and keep it secret. If anyone finds out, it won't count.
I will do two things I don't want to do. Just for exercise.
I will believe in myself. I will give my best to the world and feel confident that the world will give it's best to me.
Ten Golden Rules
1. You should not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.
2. You should not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.
3. You should not cross bridges before one comes to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.
4. You should face each problem as it comes. One can only handle one at a time anyway.
5. You should not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows.
6. You should not borrow other people's problems. They can better care for them than you can.
7. You should not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!
8. You should be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear ideas different from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.
9. You should not become "bogged down" by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.
10. You should count thy blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.
Finally, give thanks to the Lord, from whom all blessings come.

JOYFUL THINGS
At times I'm so discouraged
with problems of the day
I fail to see the joyful things
that are along the way
When troubles overwhelm me
It's then my nerves may fray
that's when I need to take the time
To simply sit and pray
Reflecting on God's many the gifts
It makes me so aware
Of all the joy in little things
around me everywhere!
I must try to remember
though problems come my way
not to miss the joyful things
and the beauty of the day.

THE LITTLEST FIREFIGHTER
Author Unknown
The 26-year-old mother stared down at her son who was dying of
terminal leukemia. Although her heart was filled with sadness, she
also had a strong feeling of determination. Like any parent she wanted
her son to grow up and fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer
possible. The leukemia would see to that. But she still wanted her
son's dreams to come true. She took her son's hand and asked, "Billy,
did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up? Did
you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?"
"Mommy, I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up." Mom smiled
back and said, "Let's see if we can make your wish come true."
Later that day she went to her local fire department in Phoenix,
Arizona, where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix.
She explained her son's final wish and asked if it might be possible
to give her six year old son a ride around the block on a fire
engine.
Fireman Bob said, "Look, we can do better than that. If you'll have
your son ready at seven 'clock Wednesday morning, we'll make him an
honorary fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire
station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine
yards! "And if you'll give us his sizes, we'll get a real fire uniform
for him, with a real fire hat -- not a toy one -- with the emblem of
the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and
rubber boots. They're all manufactured right here in Phoenix, so we
can get them fast."
Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his fire
uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and
ladder truck. Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer
it back to the fire station. He was in heaven.. There were three fire
calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls.
He rode in the different fire engines, the paramedic's van, and even
the fire chief's car. He was also videotaped for the local news
program.
Having his dream come true, with all the love and attention that was
lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy that he lived three months
longer than any doctor thought possible.
One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the
head nurse, who believed in the hospice concept that no one should die
alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.
Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a fireman, so she
called the Fire Chief and asked if it would be possible to send a
fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his
transition. The chief replied, "We can do better than that. We'll be
there in five minutes. Will you please do me a favor? When you hear
the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce
over the PA system that there is not a fire? It's just the fire
department coming to see one of its finest members one more time. And
will you open the window to his room? About five minutes later a hook
and ladder truck arrived at the hospital, extended its ladder up to
Billy's third floor open window and 16 firefighters climbed up the
ladder into Billy's room. With his mother's permission, they hugged
him and held him and told him how much they loved him.
With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said,
"Chief, am I really a fireman now?"
"Billy, you are," the chief said.
With those words, Billy smiled and closed his eyes one last time.
Prayer To Jesus And Mary For The Holy Souls
MOST LOVING Jesus, I humbly beseech Thee that Thou wouldst Thyself offer to Thine eternal Father, on behalf of the Holy Souls in Purgatory, Thy Most Precious Blood, which poured forth from the Sacred Wounds of Thine adorable Body, together with Thine agony and death.
And do thou likewise, O sorrowful Virgin Mary, present unto the Heavenly Father, together with the dolorous passion of thy dear Son, thine own sighs and tears, and all the sorrows thou didst suffer in His suffering, in order that, through the merits of the same, refreshment may be granted to the souls now suffering in the fiery torments of Purgatory, so that, being delivered from that painful prison, they may be clothed with glory in Heaven, there to sing the mercies of God for ever and ever. Amen.
Absolve, O Lord, the souls of all the faithful departed from every bond of sin, that by Thy gracious assistance they may deserve to escape the judgement of vengeance and enjoy the blessedness of everlasting light. Amen.
Morning Prayer
Lord, welcome into the temple of my soul. I know that you will root up and tear down, heal and sanctify, making there a holy and righteous place that has always been intended for you. Only you have the power to unlock the sanctuary of my heart; only you build what will last forever. I trustfully open my entire self to you now, so that your words can shape my thoughts, so that your love can penetrate my heart, so that no disorder of soul may remain in me.
Lord, grant me a greater reverence for you.
