Never tell yourself that it is "I" who has done all of this for me.
Lord, I pray and give thanks because it is You who has given me
the abilities and talents that I have to do all that I do.

Scripture for the day:

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ~Matthew
11:28-30

Meditation for the day:

Our spiritual life depends upon the unseen. To live the spiritual
life we can believe in the unseen. We can try not to lose the
consciousness of God's spirit in us and in others. As a child in its
mother's arms, we can stay sheltered in the understanding and love of
God. God can relieve us of the weight of worry and care, misery and
depression, want and woe, faintness and heartache, if we will allow
it. We can lift up our eyes from earth's troubles and view the glory
of the unseen God. Each day we can try to see more good in people,
more of the unseen in the seen.
Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may rest and abide in the presence of the unseen God. I
pray that I may leave my burdens in God's care.

Hello my friends! Friday already! Praise the Lord for another weekend!
After Wednesday, the 4th, today seemed more like a Monday. My husband had a
big blessing today - he got to have two hours off to come home, so he didn't
have to work until 8:30 - that made him happy! Me too! Then we don't have to
eat so late, and the night is fast then! I've been feeling like hay fever
is returning to me - eyes and nose dripping etc. so I took Alka-Seltzer Plus
and went to bed after he left and it dried me up and now I feel much
better!! We'll see how tomorrow will be. What a blessing to wake up and it
was gone! I really do love our stainless steel cookware with the whistle on
it - I put our fresh potatoes in there, and when it whistles, I simmer it
down for about 15 min. and the potatoes are done with very little water,
maybe just 1/4 cup. Many wonderful every day blessings today - the weather
not too hot as yesterday, we could eat in the patio tonight. Sometimes it's
too hot to do that! Praying for all of you for all your desires - may God
grant them all according to His Will.

ARE YOU WAITING TO BE CALLED?

Back when the telegraph was the fastest method of long-distance
communication, a young man applied for a job as a Morse Code operator.
Answering an ad in the newspaper, he went to the office address that
was listed.

When he arrived, he entered a large, busy office filled with noise and
clatter, including the sound of the telegraph in the background. A
sign on
the receptionist's counter instructed job applicants to fill out a
form and
wait until they were summoned to enter the inner office.

The young man filled out his form and sat down with the seven other
applicants in the waiting area. After a few minutes, the young man
stood up, crossed the room to the door of the inner office, and walked
right in.

Naturally the other applicants perked up, wondering what was going on.
They
muttered among themselves that they hadn't heard any summons yet.

They assumed that the young man who went into the office made a
mistake and would be disqualified.

Within a few minutes, however, the employer escorted the young man out
of the office and said to the other applicants, "Gentlemen, thank you
very much for coming, but the job has just been filled."

The other applicants began grumbling to each other, and one spoke up
saying, "Wait a minute, I don't understand. He was the last to come
in, and we never even got a chance to be interviewed. Yet he got the
job. That's not fair!"

The employer said, "I'm sorry, but the last several minutes while
you've been sitting here, the telegraph has been ticking out the
following message in Morse Code: 'If you understand this message, then
come right in. The job is yours.' None of you heard it or understood
it. This young man did. The job is his."

We are so busy living in a world that is full of noise and clatter,
like that office. People are distracted and unable to hear the still,
small voice of God as He speaks in creation, in the Scriptures, and in
the life and work of Jesus Christ.

So I ask you, as I ask myself, "Are you listening, or are you waiting
to be called? Do you hear the Lord when he speaks to you?

Mother Teresa said...
Jesus, you have given everything, life, blood, all. Now it is my turn. I put
everything into the field also. The common soldier fights in the ordinary
lines, but the devoted one tries to be near the captain to share his fate.
This is the spirit of Christ.

A Prayer for Wisdom
Almighty God, you know the perils that surround me, and how easy it would be
for me to slip and fall. Give me the wisdom that I need to do your bidding,
and avoid the snares that are set before me.
My path is dark before me. Send your Holy Spirit to fill me with your light,
and to guide me.

Help me do your will, and to do what is best for me and those who depend on
me.

Grant me the grace of wisdom. Make me wise enough to choose truth over
falsehood, that I may not be deceived to my own undoing, and to the harm of
others.

In Jesus' name.

Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to
console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
