I want to buy my son and his wife a freezer.

Has anyone looked for freezers lately?

Well, Lowe's did not have one, neither upright nor chest type.

Tomorrow I will call some other places and hope that I have some luck.

I have never seen Lowes with NO freezers. I also looked at a few places on line and they are out too. I think that freezers are gonna go the route of toilet paper.

What will be next, I wonder?

@happycat  And you can include bread machines, sewing machines, thermometers and Tylenol.

One of my staff told me that Sam's Club and Walmart sold out of TV's.  I guess that is where some of the stimulus check is going since it was right around the same time that the direct deposts were hitting the accounts.

I hope that they were people with enough money to pay the rent and purchase food.  I suspect that some figured that they got a temporary waiver on paying their rent and utilities so they decided to just splurge and will worry about the rent/utilities in a few months when the bills come due.

Freezers and even refrigerators have been in short supply for two or three months now.  They started selling out in February when the virus starting rapidly spreading and people were told to stay at home.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

With concerns about grocery supply chain and meat producers shutting down, people are hoarding and freezers are a hot commodity.

I guess Americans should have been nicer to China.  That's where all these things are made.

Well, good grief. I gave momma my bread machine, a while back, and since this happened I hadn't thought about it.  I guess if worse comes to worse, I can attempt to make bread without a machine.

I just hope the folks who got stimulus checks or are getting them use them wisely, maybe save some because they are liable to need it. I don't think I'd have bought a new tv with mine, but thats just me.

My daughter put hers in her savings, and my son and his wife paid off medical bills. I was glad they used the checks responsibly.

I had absolutely no idea people were buying them. I guess I should have thought about it, I have tried to stock up on food too.

I’m sure they will appreciate having a freezer.

Haven’t looked at brands in a long while, but I strongly recommend an upright rather than a chest which I had for years.

The reason being that it is harder to keep things organized in a chest, and it is somewhat difficult to reach down into the bottom of one.  I am 5’ 7” and have almost tipped in many times.  When the chest freezer started acting up, it was replaced with an upright, a good improvement.

I hope you are successful in finding one.  Just a thought, I know you are looking New, but have you thought of looking used?  My Dad always buys used dryers, which I wouldn’t want, but he does it on his theory that they don’t last long anyway.  His used ones frequently outlast my new.  Well, anyway, they can be sanitized.  You might also look at ‘scratch and dent.

Luck to you.

Our Sam's Club does still get some in but you have to go really early, they don't get many & they go fast..(If you have a Sam's in your area) good luck..

@happycat   I happened to be in Lowes a couple days ago and noticed that too.  I walked by the freezer section and they had a sign stating they did not have any upright or chest freezers in stock.  Said they do not sell floor models and did not have a time frame when those would be back in stock.
