Free holiday shipping?

I had to return an item i bought as a Christmas present I thought they said anything bought for Christmas you have till Jan 31 and we will even refund your shipping and handling.When they sent me an eMail saying they received the item i noticed they didn't refund the shipping i sent them an email and they said thats true but i'am responsible to get it back to them what does that mean? you can't just use their label you have to pay to ship it back ?Don't get it!
