I got an email today about the free shipping...but the email came AFTER the free shipping offer went away! Whaaat??!

I completely agree. Why not give a coupon code that is good for a few days? A few hours is easy to miss. I wasn't home most of the day and had no idea this was offered. So, no order from me. Would they rather I buy the two tee shirts in my wish list or not?

I ordered this morning and missed the free shipping. I looked to cancel and reorder but could not. It does not make me happy!!!!!

I get a bit irritated with online companies that only offer free shipping when an order is over a certain amount - and that's usually between $75 to $100. I seldom order anything online that would qualify me for free shipping. I want reasonable shipping charges - I'm fine with $3 for an order that doesn't weigh much, but please don't charge me $7 or $8 for a smaller order because I don't meet your minimum order amount.

Sales technique to keep you watching at all times. While you're watching for a free shipping day, you might buy something that isn't free shipping because it could sell out. That's another tactic...not ordering enough of a product...encourages buyers to purchase at the time of presentation.
If you think about it, you can't get $3.50 shipping at most places. That is very reasonable to me. Just paid TJ Maxx $8.99 shipping for a jacket. Try shipping something yourself to someone. Last week, it cost me $12 to send a pair of boots to my sister.
There are some retailers that offer free shipping all the time, but it's factored into their prices. You are paying for it even though you don't see it. It isn't free.
It's the same with "free" exchanges. Retailers raise prices to cover them. Nothing is free.

They do that because they know that people will buy stuff that they may not have otherwise, just to get to the minimum requirement, in order to get the free shipping.

As my mother used to say, "There's no such thing as a free lunch".

I absolutely agree! It did work in my favor yesterday. I was channel surfing and ITKWD was on. I saw something that I knew my SIL could use and ordered it for him for Father's Day.
However, most of the time, it irritates the heck out of me because I may have ordered things a few days prior. On one occasion, I was able to cancel my previous order and reorder to get free shipping. But, it doesn't always work out that way.
I don't like surprises!
And, the shipping on each item, in one order, is simply ludicrous. It has stopped me from ordering many times. It's like the "Dealer Prep Fee" when you buy a car....additional mark-up.
