I don't know if this has been previously addressed, but if one returns an item that was orgininally free s & h, is one charged an initial s & h as well as the additional return s & h?

If you received the item and didn't pay shipping, you only pay to have the item returned.

My online purchases have a free return policy for any defective item. I would like to think any reputable online store, or shopping network would do the same. However, I know some that do not. Certain items I can understand this policy, others?

I limit my online purchases to stores and networks that cover return shipping. Most items I purchase come with free s and h to me. If defective? Depending on the item price, I have been told I do not need to ship it back, as the s and h would cost them more than the item.

As mentioned, you won't be charged for the initial shipping.  If you use the return label, you'll be charged $6.95 or $8.95.  Or you can pay your own return charge.

If you use PayPal to make your purchase then return shipping is always free. All you have to do is fill out an online form and submit. PayPal will process it and refund you the return shipping cost.
