Back to Hof's Hut, LOL, I usually got the big, puffy bacon omelette. My dad would get a chili size or the silver dollar pancakes.
i honestly think Arby's was better way back when. I worked weekends in a dry cleaners all through HS. I always got a roast beef sandwich with lots of horsey sauce, potato cakes and a jamocha shake. We still stop at one sometimes when we're on the road -- just not the same.

Well, actually, I've only eaten at two of the restaraunts named, but always felt fine afterwards.
On the other hand, both my friend and I got quite ill after eating at a highly rated, local restaurant.
you just never know....small family run places might not be the best choices.

Hi september, speaking of small family run places, remember that popular small family run place where so many people got sick about a year ago? Mexican food.
More and more people kept getting sick. Do you know if they ever traced it to a cause?

I know I've had the chili size in the distant past!

When I travel, and see a Dunkin Donuts, I get my one donut. I'd say they haven't changed
I miss the whole wheat donuts. Also the regular donuts are now smaller. I haven't visited in about four years because I don't trust myself around donuts. LOL.

My husband says this everytime he orders something from franchise. I think it's just cheaper ingredients being used now. I have a poultry allegry and it's amazing how many products are now made with chicken that used to be made with beef.

I never went to KFC if I could help it... for one I don't care for fried chicken anyway.... but when I had it, it was dry. To me nothing's worse than dry chicken......
We discovered the KFC here in our new little town and they have the best grilled chicken and a buffet~! The chicken is consistently SO moist I was shocked, we love it. I don't over do it, I usually have a breast and a wing with salads (little dressing) and some veggies....
So I was surprised that the Franchised Food was not as I remember it... it was 100% better here!

Here's something funny.... all through the years when DH and I would drive across the country we couldn't wait to hit a Perkins restaurant. I loved their salad bread bowls and most of their stuff was good.... we looked forward to it because there are no Perkins down in So. Calif....
Fast forward to our move to the mid-west and we have a Perkins in town and close to where we live! I was so happy..... but it is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Everything tastes salty, bread bowls are not fresh, chicken is cubed and tough.... so now that we're right on top of what used to be our favorite restaurant, we never go there.... LOL~!

@Moonchilde. Yes, Burger Continental..cannot even count the times I have eaten there...BC was a go to for decades..they catered so many if our events, too...and the Friday buffet with belly dancing was always fun!..but, truthfully, BC had gone way downhill in the past few years before the closure..shut down by the health dept a few times...
A great Pasadena place for burgers is Pie and Burger...ever been?

I just thought of the only fast food restaurant where I will eat. Popeye's fried chicken. I don't eat the sides but I love the chicken. A once in awhile treat but worth the calories. The only problem is they vary depending upon location. One location, it was not so good, the other it was delicious.

@Mothertrucker, never been to Pie & Burger. I went to Pasadena to meet friends who lived in the SG Valley for meals (they loved BC) and to go to Pasadena Playhouse a few times over the years, but I didn't live close enough that I went often. My most recent favorite thing to do was the tea room at the Huntington, over the past several years.
I've recently moved to the Central Coast, so am investigating all new local favorites, from scratch.
