I already posted excerpts from the CDC.

Here is another link

http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/yellowbook/2016/advising-travelers-with-specific-needs/newly-arrived-imm...

The documents are from fiscal year 2012 and Syria is not listed on the tables in that link.

so? They are still on their website and still in place I would assume, otherwise they would delete it one would think? .

My link is from 2014.

and the first link of yours that I clicked on and scrolled through said this:

Refugees, unlike most immigrant populations, are not required to have any vaccinations before arrival in the United States. In addition, many vaccines have limited or no availability in some developing countries or in specific refugee settings. Therefore, most refugees, including adults, will not have had complete Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)-recommended vaccinations when they arrive in the United States.

The reality is that we have no Public Health Service to track refugees, illegal immigrants and anyone else entering this Country.  I worked Public Health during the Cuban Flotilla in a sanctuary City, next Town over.  You get one shot at people before they disappear; you can't possibly give all immunizations at once to a young child....that is the reality....it doesn't matter what the CDC recommends....that is in the ideal world.

as a human being we all have responsibility to care for other human beings.....no matter where they are from.....being "tapped out" is not an excuse in my opinion.

And that is why our deficit is so large. Our counties can take in their share. We have already done our share in history.

How about the folks on the Arabian peninsula other than Jordan step up?  Our economy is not great, people on our streets homeless....yes, women and children....

OK what I am not understanding is - if,in fact each and every refugee is undergoing a long and rigorous screening process - then what is the problem with the House Bill asking for Administration certification of same - that each refugee actually underwent this process and passed - and why is the President threatening to veto it?

So then where does the money come from? I vote more private charity. Less government payment of this and more people who want more refugees here group together through their churches or start organizations that pay for their arrival and integration. Glenn Beck is doing something like that now.

I was responding to the wife of another taxpayer, so I DO realize that. Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I have confidence in the current screening process as it has been in place for a few years now. There are many who are ashamed of the knee jerk rhetoric instead of thoughtful discourse.

the house bill has other stuff in it that goes beyond this measure.

Well, that isn't true.  Other countries (and they are truly impoverished countries) are taking in a lot more than we are.  And no, we haven't done our share in history.   I didn't know that humanitarian aid and compassion had a ceiling.

Our deficit is so large because we keep cutting taxes and starting wars - without paying for them.  We paid for our wars pre Vietnam and since then, we don't.    If we are going to have services (which we need, unless we want to be a 3rd world country), we have to stop cutting taxes.  We have the lowest rates in decades and this is why this country is in trouble.

Perhaps some wish to pay more taxes, I don't. The more you tax people, the less they are willing to GIVE.

This nation was not founded to take from those here to redistrubute it within or outside our borders. The refugee issue needs to be more a privately funded affair, with less tax money spent on it.

If we are such a blessed and rich nation (and we are) there will be many step up to (help) pay for this through the private sector.

considering our taxes are at the lowest in decades, we need to raise them.  Sorry, but our nation is spoiled to the hilt over taxes and not paying for anything.
