Re: For the time being I am signing off. Way too much speculation about a serious

For the time being I am finding many of the Covid-19 threads to be interesting, and a few to be informative.

ITA with the OP on this and wish people would think before speaking and posting stuff. Some people love to spread bad news and mass hysteria.  Example: I know a lady who's pregnant right now and she's been in tears because other ladies supposedly concerned are bombarding her with emails, etc. about how this virus can harm her and her baby. She's had it with the spreading of panic and scaring her,  especially when she's already on edge---enough!

I would only add that when I do seek information about the situation, I'm not seeking it on QVC's site. There are primary sources out there and, to me, it makes more sense to use them. If I then want to discuss some aspect further, I find talking with friends and family and the more immediate interaction and exchange that provides to be preferable to attempts to do so here. Each to their own.

I literally had to stop reading a couple days ago because of one crude post that upset me to the core.  I didn't know we had an actual news reporter  physician nurse rolled into one.  I listen to the Doctors on TV  or other sources. It's bad enough being uncertain but I refuse to let one person be so crude and how it might affect people.

Step back and let your mind and eyes rest.

For example I found the blood type thread to be informative and a subject I had not heard about elsewhere so that led me to do an online search.  As to me I am very hooked into what family members and friends are experiencing.  I agree, each to their own.

I don't know if you're still reading but I understand. I'm not here a lot and even less now. You're an asset here but you need to find peace in all of this and if that means such Checking out for the time being, I fully support you.

You certainly need to do what feels right to you, but I always feel that when someone announces here that they are leaving (either for awhile or forever) and state the reason as something being discussed here that they don't like, that they are trying to control what others want to discuss.

If you want to discuss other things, start a thread about them.  And then like minded posters can join in.

I think many of us drift in and out of here depending on what's being discussed that they find interesting.  That's just how message boards go.

@tansy

I have found some of them interesting even when totally outlandish statements are made.

Reading how others think can be thought provoking and sometimes just entertaining, and other times maddening.

That's life!

If someone wants to quit reading and contributing to threads, she should just do that. There is absolutely no reason to make a dramatic announcement that you are going to leave the forum. Others dont need someones denouncement ...which inevitably is always a little self righteous about some personal opinion.....One should just disappear if that is what they want to do.

@Goldengate8361  ....... You are allowed your opinion. Some posters are used to other posters and become concerned when they don't see their posts. I think it is considerate when a poster lets others know when they may be leaving for a while so that the posters that care know not to worry.
