i believe there are posters here who will report ANY post that disagrees with them as mean or unkind. Some moderators remove all reported posts and some actually read them and assess them first. So - it depends on the posters and on what moderator is working.

It has a lot to do with posts being reported by your fellow posters.

Whether I think someone is right or wrong, there is no need to belabor a point into the ground.
I agree.

As I stated in another thread, a major issue here is that many don't understand the different between an opinion and an assumption. Opinions are formed through understanding details of a situation while assumptions are just guesses based on hearsay. Those who state their opinions well generally give a little background as to how they formed them, while others mask their assumpitons as opinions and usually pay the price by getting unkind responses. So, if you find yourself getting attacked for an "opinion," you should probably make sure you are, indeed, stating an opinion and not making an assumption. It's okay to not respond to every post, particularly if you're not familiar with the subject matter. Sometimes it's okay just to read and learn from others.

I was removed from the board about a year ago for posting a coupon. I used to occassionally post coupons i.e. 20% off on Coldwater Creek but this was a 20% off on a competing shopping channel. It took about two months to get reinstated.
My Mom used to tell me that it was not a good idea to discuss religion or politics with anyone including friends etc and that has proved to be good advice. So I agree with one of the posters who said that as we get closer to the Presidential elections there will be more and more comments made and more and more forums deleted.

Posts are removed because someone gets their undies in a twist. And often it's who said it, not what was said.
The "Report Inappropriate Content" feature has become the Passive-Agressive's go to button.

You do realize this is your assumption of what people are doing masked as your opinion and a bit condescending as well. Since you have no way of knowing for sure what people are thinking or how much they know.

Amen to that!
