More than 50 million chickens were killed in this country. What a sad situation for the farmers. I have pet birds (parakeets), and I make sure they stay inside whenever there are avian flu outbreaks as there really is no cure. I remember last year many of the wild songbirds were dying as well.
I do not purchase eggs that much any more, so the current price increases really do not have too much impact on me.
I think I can live without buying Wagyu roasts. I do splurge on certain QVC food items during the holiday season, and I have been very satisfied with all of my purchases.

In Kansas we are thrilled that sales food tax is going down in the next 3 years and 2025 will be the end it. We are one of the highest states in the country where as some states don't have a food tax at all.
@luvmyteddy4 we don't have tax on most grocery items here in Florida, but there is a tax on prepared foods, such as deli sandwiches bought inside a grocery store. I think they should get rid of taxes on restaurant food, or at least lower the taxes. Food is food. Many of us have a hard time preparing food.

I was at my local Kroger last week searching for eggs. Kroger brand had sold out of a dozen eggs so I bought the last package of six eggs for $3.50. The only packages of eggs left were free range. One brand was $10.95/ dozen and the other was $20 per dozen.
The 10 and twenty dollar eggs were previously $4 and $5 per dozen. I would have to say the the store is price gouging.
@nrm @This new price makes sense, since free range chickens have to go outdoors and that exposes them to bird flu.

Holy cow! They are averaging $5.99 here. However, I priced shopped online and found name brand eggs for $3.89 yesterday - and they were free range.
My state has killed several million chickens because of bird flu. I try to alway buy seafood, meat and eggs from non-factory farms.
I quit shopping at just one store. I like to order groceries online and can go to my regular store's competitors and get everything for $1-$4 less per item. That adds up fast.

Yes! That is crazy. I have seen some sales in my area on progresso soups. I just bought a few cans today, on sale.

I think this is the winner. Unbelievably high. Even for my pricey state.
