I have never had a reaction to any regular flu shot, but for me at least this 65+ shot appears to be a different beast. 48 hrs after the injection, while my injection site soreness has mostly disappeared, my immune response has gone into overdrive. My arm is warm and red, and I am noticing the heat and redness more today than yesterday. Hmmm... I know the 65+ is 4 times the strength of the regular vaccine, and my body is apparently quite aware of that! Sheesh. About to go put a cold pack on it. Not sorry I got it, just wasn't expecting this. I do feel malaise-y as well. Odd to me that it's worse today than the day of the shot or 24 hours after. Hope it's not like this for work tomorrow :-(

I think that can happen if you've already picked up a cold or something and your body's already weakened when you get the shot. Fingers crossed you'll feel better quick.

I might have done the same...if asked more then once.

Same here; you can ask me once, when asked again, I'm out of there.

No, I'm not actually sick and I don't have a cold, this is just a reaction to a shot 4 times the usual strength. I had something similar happen years ago while I was undergoing a series of allergy shots. An assistant unfamiliar with my chart gave me an allergy shot that was many times stronger than the dose I should have had, and I had a reaction like this. It's your immune system going "Yikes! Whoa!" I'm taking it easy today, thanks :-)

I have just hit the change in age group, but they also recommend these for those younger with chronic illnesses like asthma, diabetes, heart disease, etc. I am diabetic so I was definitely offered. I have 't been offered before, now that I think about it, but probably haven't been in the office during "flu shot window" time. Will be interesting to see if this was due to it being a first time thing, and/or if I have the same reaction next year.

This seems to be happening more and more, and the clerks feel their job depends on doing what they're told.

I think it would be more effective to let the store manager know you're displeased. Leaving your stuff on the counter makes more work for the clerk, and the boss may get the idea the clerk did something wrong.

I agree that asking more than once is annoying, and we all have our personal triggers. My personal peeve is the grocery chains that make their checkers ask, every time you check out, whether you want to donate to the charity of the week or to end hunger. AFAIC the answer is sometimes yes, sometimes (mostly) no, or I already donated - or you just asked me about a different charity last week. I see the requests at the counter, I'll volunteer if I feel like it. Asking me out loud, in the presence of others, invariably makes me contrary enough to say no. It's a choice thing. You guys can relate ;-)

The clerk will end up getting the blame no matter what anyone says. It's not fair, but it is what it is. Pretty much all businesses work that way.
