Lilacs and pink peonies are my favorites, but I love all flowers. Reading the appreciative posts about carnations wants me to run out and get an inexpensive bunch from my grocery store right now and just inhale the fragrance. I don't care if flowers are considered expensive or cheap, I love them all. Thanks for this cool discussion, Plaid Pants! How I love the beauty of creation! ![]()

@JustJazzmom wrote:Rabbits and squirrels are more likely to nibble on tulips and crocus than daffodils which are bitter tasting to them and poisonous. Saw once a young squirrel take a nibble of a daffodil bud and he writhed on the ground after he tasted it.
Its suggested that if you want tulips to interplant the bulbs with daffodil bulbs so the rodents (rabbits and squirrels) stay away.
I want to suggest the Kordes Parfuma series of roses which are very fragrant and disease resistant. Look at this website then google the names for places to purchase.
Awww--poor squirrel! We don't really have them, but rabbits yes! They took out my asters. I put a little fence around them and they hopped right inside the squares and continued. Right in front of me!

I love any plant that flowers. One of my favorite for fragrance is the star gazer lily. OMG, the scent is intoxicating.

@JustJazzmom Thanks so much for the head's up on Kordes Roses. I've added them to my 'favs' so I don't lose this info. These look wonderful - I can almost smell the aroma!

YW @PINKdogWOOD
Reputable companies for mailordering these roses -- Chamblee Nursery in TX, Roses Unlimited in SC, High Country Roses in CO, Heirloom Roses in OR.
All the above named companies sell their roses on their own root. Other companies have to list if the rose is own root in their descriptions-- if its not mentioned- assume its grafted to common rootstock.
You can also look locally for many roses too. Home Depot this past summer had Dee-Lish among their container roses. Yes, I was shocked and bought one home.

I love wildflowers ~ so pretty and unorganized
haha
I also love lilacs, lavender, but I think I am more partial to herbal fragrant plants and evergreens than just flowers.
My mom and sister love flowers and have huge gardens to prove it!
