I'm a former Tampa girl, and that 40 temp sounds pretty good to me here in Ohio where it's 22. How does anyone live up here in the frozen tundra?🥶

@Big Joanie I'm in Palm Beach Gardens. We were at 40 when I first reluctantly got out of bed. Three hours later, it's now showing 47.
I'm comfortable inside, but my heat is on. I doubt I'll need A/C for days.

@JillyMarie. While you in Florida are really cold, we in the desert Southwest just had the hottest December on record. Every day except December 4th, set records in one city or another as the warmest ever recorded in December. We don't like this at all as there's little, if any, snow in the mountain ski areas.

The recent cold front, exacerbated by the La Niña conditions, has allowed for Arctic air to move down into Florida.
Although La Niña typically signals warmer winters, its influence can interact with other weather systems, leading to cold snaps.
This combination can lead to the unusual cold temperatures that Florida is currently experiencing, despite the overarching La Niña pattern.
