Flea Products

I live in Oxnard, CA (southern Calif). My lhasa apso is 2-1/2 yrs old. I've been using Advantage Flea ointment on her from April thru Sept. for the past couple of years. She's indoors most of the time and wondered how necessary it is to use the flea product on her. If I skip this year - is there a good chance she'll get fleas?
