I always feel attracted to flashlights. I have a hard time keeping my fingers off them when they are stationed at the checkstand.

It's good to have them stationed around the house, not just for emergency use, but I use them to enter a dark room to get something without turning on the 4-bulb overhead light or if someone is sleeping in the room.   I use them at night to walk around inside and outside.  I use them to look under the bed for the dog or cat.  I carry one turned on when walking the dog at dusk. I also use the flashlight on the smartphone.  So grateful we had our old Coleman camping lantern when we had 3 days without power.  Right now I'm lusting after the solar flashlights offered on amazon.  I don't gift flashlights.  Most people have enough.

Not just East Coasters, Sydney.  Generators are a high ticket item, but people might buy them.  If you've ever been without power for a few days, it's a very appealing idea.

This has been a great thread!  What I have learned is that lots of people really like flashlights!      Very cool.

Looking back, I was mostly thinking 'this sure seems lame'.  But realistically thinking, they sell a lot of them so why not keep selling them.

I always appreciate learning something new.   I have tons of flashlights and I don't think I've actually ever had one die on me (probably haven't bought one for 20 years!), so I think that's where my attitude was coming from - like, how many flashlights CAN people buy?  Well, apparently, many!  Smiley Happy
