I could happily go the rest of my life with never seeing them again. They are all pretty much the same anyway, and I have seen enough. Our dogs are frightened of them too. And we have neighbors that insist on doing their own.
In the year 1998, when I lived in Ohio, there was a suburb south of Cleveland that had a city fireworks display. One of the fireworks, a 6 inch mortar, went sideways and killed a 12 year old girl there and injured an older woman. That girl was a friend of the daughter of someone I worked with. It was quite sad, and I think of that every year. I can not even imagine the pain that family went through at losing their daughter.

In 2009, on Ocracoke Island, there was a tragic accident involving several people that were transporting the fireworks to the island. I knew one of them. We attended a memorial service and the pastor was devastated.

Here in Augusta Georgia Wednesday night an apartment building caught fire from fireworks. Sixteen units were lost and 16 families lost their homes. I detest them. The military base here holds their fireworks on the 3rd of July. A lot of these families didn't realize they had lost everything because they were out for the evening.

Add me to the list of people who hate fireworks. I liked them as a child, but I outgrew them a long time ago. The professional ones are ok, but I'm not going to go see those either.
I dislike the noise, smoke, and danger they cause when people shoot them off in neighborhoods. People in my city go out of state to buy them legally. Police are too busy to enforce the fireworks laws.
Last night the loud booms went on until 2 am. We have 3 different neighbors who seem to compete with each other. They shoot off illegal big fireworks all summer long. We find what's left of the fireworks on our streets, driveway, yards, and roof. Thank goodness we had some rain or we might have had neighborhood fires last night.

I live out in the country and fireworks are alive here! I detest them and hated how they upset our horses. One year the horses ran over one of our goats (which they would never intentionally do) when someone flew a drone over our pasture during fireworks going off. Fortunately, the goat was just stoved up a bit and recovered quickly. I don't know why she was out in the pasture and not in the "goat fenced safe area" we made for them to avoid the horses when things get a bit "wild". The horses can't get in the goat "safe zone". We also live near a nudist camp and they always have a big to do on holidays. Lots of fireworks for them.

@We rescue cats : Our neighborhood is normally 99 % quiet except for the holidays. DH has PTSD and neighbors know this and his military history. The fireworks start a week before any holiday and they are illegal in our area but nothing is ever done.
In our house had wood blinds installed then thick window shades. Doesn't stop the loud noise but can't see the flashing lights of color. We haven't had rain and everything dry. The fireworks works didn't stop until 2 a.m. But we have fireworks all around us. Hate fireworks. Fireworks just started again. Praying for rain.

I am SO GLAD the fourth of July is over. I detest fireworks. They are unnecessary, and should be ILLEGAL everywhere. There were fireworks going off near me from 3 P.M. until after midnight.

I don't have a problem with them. Not sorry 🙃 I haven't participated in fireworks in years except with the grandchildren and they haven't been here in probably 3 years for fireworks. My dogs aren't bothered by them either except for one outside dog we used to have and I would sedate him with a Benadryl. Most of the time I brought him in the house.

@Kachina624 the neighborhood fireworks are now on night 3. They are not allowed but yet they sell them in my state. Go figure. Nothing like trying to fall asleep while bombs bursting in air. These people around here must have a ton of money to blow on fireworks.
