Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

[ Edited ]

In all my years watching QVC, I've never heard them say if you ordered two of the exact same item at the same time, shipping on the second item was free.

I remember hearing on AM & PM Style many years ago, if you ordered the same item in the same order, the second item had 1/2 off shipping.  Occasionally this was true with jewelry too.

I think sometimes HSN had free shipping on multiples items.

Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

Annabel, I agree with you.  I stopped shopping at QVC years ago when I discovered other online companies that sell better quality at a cheaper price with lower or no shipping costs.  I find new items on eBay, and I love Amazon Prime.  I think shopping channels are a bit passe' and don't waste my time listening to some host babble on about an item I don't want or care about.  It would be interesting to see a record of their profits throughout the years.

I have been wondering about the fiscal health of the Q.   They closed their large call center in Port St. Lucia, Florida.   In July they let over 800 employees left  without a job or benefits.  My brother-in-law lives in Port St. Lucia.  So I wonder what is going on.

Here's another factor in the Q's return policy that I haven't seen being discussed: even exchanges. I don't know of any other online or catalog retailer who charges an additional shipping fee if you exchange an item for the same thing in a different size. You've already paid the shipping both ways on the original item.

Why penalize the customer for gambling on a size, and losing? Why can't they at least ship the even-exchanged item for free?

Exactly!  I'll never order clothing from them again. Got burned on that one. HSN gets all my home shopping clothing money.

croemer, what flipped my lid was these earrings are so tiny (I'm not exaggerating when I say they are the size of a red ant and lighter than air).  It's just stupid.  I always heard them say if you buy two identical (they were both gold colored) things at the same time (identical) only one shipping charge.

The person reached into the bag and put two tiny pair of earrings together.  That's it.  I just feel so stupid.

It's all in their favor.  A sale is a joke.  And now that they are doing that thing if you have a Q card you get easy pay.  HSN does that sometimes but they also have easy pay on most things too.

I pay cash for everything.  I have no credit cards, don't need or want them.  You watch, they will slowly be doing away with the easy pay.  There are people that would like to have something but need to pay over time.  Anyway, I'm beating a dead horse, so to speak (raised by my grandma and have lots of sayings).

I hear ya...I love HSN...and their sells are REAL sells.

You "stopped shopping at QVC years ago", but you still frequent their forums and are interested in "a record of their profits throughout the years"???

Now to me that's just plain weird.  I don't even browse the websites of companies I don't shop with, much less care about their "profits"!

Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

The same thing happened to me this week, I ordered 2 pair of knit pants..both in the same pacakge was was charged $3.00 each...they were a bit snug so I wanted to go up 1 size but when I called to see if I would be charged $6.00 again I opted to return and not reorder.  I am done ordering clothing unless I know for sure it will fit.....it's just to expensive.

I went to a local store, which I should have done in the first place, and found 2 pair of pants that were nice fabric and fit well.........plus they were 1/2 the price of the QVC pants.

Yesterday I received an order for TIPS (love that product) ...the box was huge and inside were 2 small bottles of product, what a waste!!

I totally agree, we are charged 6.95 to return and if shipping and handling was 3.00 you get that charge also.  Very dissapointed to be chaged 9.95 to return a pair of jeans. I have been with QVC for 30 yeard, and totally done ordering.

Today I would have had to pay the Q $12.95 to return items.  I stated in another post that I'd give them to a friend before returning them.  Guess this works out great for the Q and bad for us.  Might not be doing any more shopping either.  That's a terrible return policy taking into consideration I rarely do it.  I don't order fashion so I can try it on at home and return what I don't want.  Shame on the Q.

If you think it's too expensive to use QVC's return labels, do not use them and return your orders another way.  You will probably find that the original $3 shipping fee is a real bargain.  For the most part so is the return postage.

There are some companies that do pay for shipping both directions but they are becoming few a far between.  Those that do, tend to have higher retail prices.  If you find companies that pay for shipping, plus returns, plus free exchanges, and have great prices and customer service, why are you shopping here?  There isn't anything QVC sells that you cannot buy elsewhere.
