Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

I only WISH I'd heard anyone say that if you buy two identical items, there is only one shipping charge.  What i HAVE heard them say (before the new $3 charges were put into effect), is that the shipping was reduced by half if you purchased two items in one order.  Never, though, have they ever said (when I was listening) that there is only one shipping charge.

I'm not clear about the debit cards.  Is not having a credit card a point of honor or something?  It doesn't seem as if anyone here is in danger of overspending so I don't understand the aversion to credit cards - especially for anyone who runs any kind of company.

Credit cards are said to be safer than debit cards.  If lost, you are only liable for a small amount but any unauthorized charges on a debit card are all on the owner.  (Anyone feel free to correct me if there is clearer or more up-to-date info available.)

Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

[ Edited ]

In my opinion, QVC needs to follow more of what Amazon, Target, Walmart, Macy's, etc all do which is to offer FREE shipping at a certain total order price point.

People feel they're getting a deal. And they are more willing to spend more money in one order than not.

Generally, its about ratio or proportion. People feel less "ripped off" even if they need to spend a min. of $35 or $50 before FREE shipping kicks in as compared to spending $6 on one little light-weight nothing item.

Maybe QVC would have to have a higher min. price point at which FREE shipping on a total order would kick in as they offer items at higher price points.

But what's so impossible with a $100 min order gets you FREE shipping on the entire order?

With QVC's numbers, it could offer that. The $3 jewelry s/h cost is fair. But when they charge $6 per every tee shirt or per each item in an order it really becomes stupidly out of proportion with both what people are buying and the rest of the marketplace online (the competition).

QVC shouldn't be inadvertently sending people to look for better deals at Macy's or Target or Amazon (or even brick & mortar stores) JUST over the issue of shipping and handling charges.

As it is now, they stand to potentially gain tons of money on s/h while LOSING tons more on sales of actual merchandise.

@GingerPeach - You are correct.  I never buy anything online with me debit card.  I recently had my credit card hacked for about $4,000.  I called my bank and a block was put on my card and I do not have to pay those charges.

However, if I would have used my debit card that money would have been lost.

As soon as you place an order you get an email showing your shipping charge for each item.  If you're not happy that's the time to cancel by going to your order status.

I suppose it depends on the bank, but my debit card was hacked within the past 9 months, and the bank noticed it first, contacted me, and refunded the charges.

Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

I totally agree with you in regards to the QVC card. I too I'm starting to pay with just cash I use my debit card. The only way you get the 3 easy pay is by using your cue card. I refuse to do this I'm trying to pay my QVC card off unfortunately I do all the money as soon as I'm paid off with that I will never use to QVC card again. If they want to charge me less easy pay for something I buy I guess I'll just have to swallow that ugly pill. I too am trying to wean myself off QVC I've been with them for way too many years and I enjoy their products but I think they are not treating the customer fair anymore. Unfortunately all good things come to an end thank you for letting me vent

If your debit card has a Visa/Mastercard, etc logo on it, you just use it like it's a credit card by entering the numbers on the card instead of your bank routing and account number. It's still a debit, but it's covered like a credit card with zero to minimal liability to you.

croemer, what flipped my lid was these earrings are so tiny (I'm not exaggerating when I say they are the size of a red ant and lighter than air).  It's just stupid.  I always heard them say if you buy two identical (they were both gold colored) things at the same time (identical) only one shipping charge.

The person reached into the bag and put two tiny pair of earrings together.  That's it.  I just feel so stupid.

It's all in their favor.  A sale is a joke.  And now that they are doing that thing if you have a Q card you get easy pay.  HSN does that sometimes but they also have easy pay on most things too.

I pay cash for everything.  I have no credit cards, don't need or want them.  You watch, they will slowly be doing away with the easy pay.  There are people that would like to have something but need to pay over time.  Anyway, I'm beating a dead horse, so to speak (raised by my grandma and have lots of sayings).

And I have never heard them say that in over 20 years.

It sounds like you've built up a lot of anger towards QVC - unwarranted, in my opinion.

I think you are right in deciding to shop elsewhere.  Don't watch their shows (there are other shows you can have on in the background for "noise"); don't shop online.  Just make a complete break with the Q and channel more positive emotions in a different direction - for your own health and well-being.

Allowing these feelings of being "so stupid" to escalate are not going to do you or anyone else any good.  Best to walk away now.

Re: Finally Had it With QVC!

the new policies are abit unsettleing to me. mostly the three dollar shipping.....raise it to the return price so it will keep most happy. i buy alot from qvc.....for home... clothes as i am not able to get out. i used to go out and buy from better quality department stores. which i feel is usually what i receive from qvc. but in most stores their dressing rooms were ocuppied alot. it was not unusual for customers to buy garments in different sizes , styles to make decisions and match colors with garmets you have at home. there are several more reasons for returns but will not go into. i just do not want to order for a less expensive cost to receive. then as you return garments you are in a since buying a piece of the merchandise you have returned. by the way i am loosing weight cuz of medical reasons and most sizing is different by designer. such as susan graver does not put darts in most of her garmets....i am busty and in some items i get bust size right and then other parts of garment are wrong. . lower cost to receive can cause more quick buying.....especially when  shoppers are told don't wait cuz this is the last order for the year . this keeps markdowns to a minimum and then in clearance it is not super markdowns but many more easy pays. i will stop after one other thought from me.......qvc is not financially loosing a thing....i also think qvc just bought zulily for 2 billion dollars.

I suspect that "anger" in this case equates to DRAMA.
