For those who have been following my Sera's problems...I have a question. Can someone whose cat(s) have IBD tell me whether or not it's normal for the cat to continue to have occassional vomiting while on the steroid (Prednisolone)?

She was initially on 5 mg dose twice a day for two weeks. Then she was reduced to the 5 mg dose, once a day for 3 weeks. During these 5 weeks, she threw up once that was more of a hair ball kind of thing...and then once the day after that, that did not have hair. The vet wasn't too concern, as this was really during the first two weeks and she was just getting started.

A week ago Thursday, we dropped her daily dosage down to 4 mg. On Sunday afternoon she threw up another hair ball vomit...and then on Tuesday morning she threw up and this one did not have any hair in it. Because of this we took her back up to the 5 mg daily dose, but last night she had another small bout of vomit (found it today).

In all aspects she seems like her normal self. No hiding, no looking depressed, nothing unusual. So...is this normal for cats that are having digestive issues? Is the steroid supposed to eliminate ALL vomiting, or just help ease it so it doesn't occur as often? Before we started the steroid, she had gotten to the point where she was doing it on an almost daily basis. So there is improvement...but I was hoping that it would totally go away, especially while on the medicine.

I'd love to hear from someone whose cat(s) have been through this type of treatment and hear what your experiences were.

TIA!

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
