She didn't have a choice, there's no question of her guilt. Her daughter is humiliated and furious with her. She's concerned about her career. She just wants this thing to go away so can move on with her life. Step one is pleading guilty and apologizing, which she has done. Step 2 is sentancing. It won't be jail time, it's not going to be jail time for any of them but it will be something.

She is smart to plead early.
I think many will do jail time. They won't be doing hard labor, more like a Club Fed prison, probably a month or two, but I think they will do jail time.

I agree @chrystaltree she wants it all behind her and it so much better to do this. I cannot imagine that any of the parents will get jail time especially if they go ahead and plead guilty. Huge fines and maybe community service. I am not so sure about the school officials since they did it with so many parents.

I give her credit for pleading guilty.
Whether she's sorry she got caught or not is irrelevant. I'd rather see someone plead guilty and do their time than deny it and look foolish.

Lori and her husband have “not yet addressed the charges against them” according to the news article I read a few minutes ago...Huffman is stealing the headlines now with her guilty plea. Still wondering why her husband has not been charged as well...it seems he was in on it just like his wife...and even wrote the check!
Lori and her hubby are no doubt trying to work out a deal to shorten prison time...but every legal analyst so far has said they will no doubt spend time in federal prison. Surely they have enough money to bribe their way out of prison time too....Wow!

Exactly! I think the parents did wrong but this is the way they live. They use vast fortumes to buy whatever they want and to them an education at top knotch college was just another thing that they could buy for their kids. Why should their kids compete, when they could buy their way in? But the real criminals, to me, are the coaches and the school administrators and that "consultant" and the people at the SAT who put in system that they knew could be abused. Those are the ones who deserve jail time.

Yes, these 2 and several others got caught, but I'm sure that there are plenty more that have done the same thing over the years that haven't been caught.I can't believe that something like this has just started recently.

Her lawyer wrote that.
She only cares because she got busted.

ITA.
The emotional response from the Court of Public Opinion
doesn't mean a thing.
I credit her for taking a 1st step of a v.e.r.y long journey ahead of her.
I also credit her for being the ‘face’ of this plead today. No one will
remember the other 13 pleading guilty today...none except FH.
