Re: Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

Pleading guilty is a way to try to get a light sentence and make it go away fast.

Re: Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

Ms. Huffman is taking the good advice of her high priced lawyer. On the other hand, Lori and hubby act no older than their teens. I hope they throw the book at them (Lori & hubs) to teach them a lesson. There's a reason we have a legal system, it's not to let rich celebrities make a joke of it.

Re: Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

Whether her lawyer wrote it or she did, I believe that it expresses the way Felicity feels.  I give her credit for pleading guilty and accepting responsibility.  From her demeanor that I have seen, it looked like she felt ashamed.  Every parent tries to help their kids in some way or another to get an advantage, though not many break the law doing it.

Now Aunt Becky is another story.  For her to sign autographs on the way to the court house shameful.  She is only making herself look worse.

Re: Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

It's amazing how scripted all of these statements sound . I read the statement from the first defendant that plead guilty and he said something similar. Both statements mentioned how ashamed they were and how they betrayed their children. That word betrayal seems out of place in this situation. How about how you deceived the public and the system.

Re: Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

@NicksmomESQ  Her daughter knew nothing about the scam?  That doesn't pass my smell test.  Her husband is nowhere to be seen?  That also doesn't pass my smell test.  How could her husband be let off the hook?  How could ne not know?  Where was he living at the time?

From reports I read, there was all kinds of stuff involved in the scams (pictures, letters of recommendation, etc.)  How could any of the students not have known that something was going on?  You're going to whatever university on a "Crew Team" recruitment.  But Mom & Dad, I don't know what crew is.  I don't have the foggiest idea why none of the students was indicted.

@GAQShopr53Their children have been betrayed and deceived.  The future for those children looks bleak at best.  They are going to need a lot of professional help to make sense of what happened.

@Bri369   I agree with your post:

I give her credit for pleading guilty.

Whether she's sorry she got caught or not is irrelevant.  I'd rather see someone plead guilty and do their time than deny it and look foolish.

At least that is what Martha Stewart did and she is pretty much back to her pre-prison self and life.

Wise move for Ms. Huffman, if you ask me.

@Cats3000 I think the kids will be okay...most will let this pass and move on. I hope they actually put in some work and earned the grades they received up to this point. The issue might be if their records are wiped out and all of that time doesn't count for anything.

The biggest issue may be the embarrassment that comes along with the constant/ongoing media attention/coverage and the public who will not let this pass.

Re: Felicity Huffman pleads guilty

It is hard to believe, as some have claimed, that  their kids were unaware of what was happening.  Didn't their children realize that their grades and maybe SAT scores  were not good enough to get them into these kinds of colleges.   Also, if they werent able to get into these high level schools on their own how were they going to earn the grades to stay there?

I agree.  She's handling everything better than Lori.
