Gala!

Although, this year I discovered the 'Opal' and enjoyed those, too.  They seemed to be in my store for a short season.  I hope they come back next year.

We've been buying Gala for many years.  I love that they have just enough sweetness and they are crisp.  I never cared for sour apples, like GS, and tried the Honey Crisp once and didn't care for those so I went right back to Gala.  Smiley Happy

Apples are my favorite fruit and I love just about every kind but my favorites are Macs and Cortlands.  We'll be making apple butter next week using a combination of these two applesHeart  I've already made apple crisps and apple pies.  Thinking of making another crisp today.  Heart

Great idea to mix different kinds together, AB!   Smiley Very Happy

When I lived in California I had a favorite place to buy my fruits and vegetables and they always carried my favorite apple...GALA.  Haven't seen them since living in AZ.

Don't know if I know this apple may have to try one next time I run across one. Or is it just a local one? Sweet tango too, maybe more news ones to try.

Jonagold. We discovered them while in Columbia County, NY early October '08 and brought home several dozen. Since then, we've been fortunate enough to find them in our local grocery store the end of October.
