Those are awesome! I love the books and the PBS series! I bought the season 1 and 2 and am hoping that they bring out series 3 for sale here in the US soon!

The Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. But my most beloved set is a boxed set of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit paperbacks that came in a box with various crests of the lordly folk adorning it that my Mom got me for Christmas one year. I am Very careful of my books but I have to smile whenever I see the well worn covers and creased spines of those books as I remember them being passed around to so many of my friends in junior high school. Frodo Lives in many a mind because of that set of paperbacks.

Beany Malone they were old books when I was in jr high. My local library did not have 14 books but I would have been really happy if they did.

I recently discovered KENT HARUF and read his books PLAINSONG AND EVENTIDE. They need to be read in that order. My library had both books. Then I ordered and read his other 3 books. I wish he had more. I ordered PLAINSONG AND EVENTIDE from a used book store and sent to a friend. When I enjoy a book as much as those, I want to share them!

I also love Kent Haruf's books so much! Every one of them was so beautiful.

Sadly, he recently passed away but he wrote a book that is coming out sometime this year. I am greatly looking forward to reading it.

Another vote for Harry Potter.

And:

Mary Stewart's books set in the days of King Arthur. Love those even though it's not a setting I ever was, or am, interested in. She makes them compulsively readable and exciting.

I agree! Loved Beany Malone. Also was a fan of the Toby Heydon series, Janet Lambert and of course Nancy Drew! I collect children's and girl's series books. Should also mention Trixie Belden and Judy Bolton. My license plates on the car read NANCDRU. Love to watch people smile when they read it!
