With the holidays coming a really good set I read over every year is Thomas Kinkaid's Cape Light series. Similar to the Mitford series set in a small town with same characters but majority of each book set around the winter holidays as the years go by. There are about 10 to 12 books I think. Very good.

I love the Thomas Kinkaid's Cape Light series too. I got a book set from the Lakeside Collection with all Christmas stories and I loved them. I also read a couple more. They are such great stories. Thanks everyone for all the replies, keep them coming. I never thought I would get such a response when I posted the thread.

Plus the cover art on those books are so beautiful and peaceful like his paintings themselves.

I loved those books - my parents gave me the first 3 as a set of hardback books for Christmas, back in the 70's. I read everything he wrote. I always hoped someday to get to Yorkshire. His son wrote an excellent biography if you are interested:The Real James Herriot, A Memoir of My Father by James Wight
(James Herriot's real name was Alf Wight, just in case you didn't already know)
Thanks! I'll need to see about the son's book on his father. And I didn't know that was his real name. Interesting! Thank you.

I love the Jack Reacher books, written by Lee Child.
Also the John Corey books written by Nelson DeMille.
And, I loved the Ladies of Covington series, written by Joan A. Medlicott.
There are probably more but I can't remember them now.

I recently discovered KENT HARUF and read his books PLAINSONG AND EVENTIDE. They need to be read in that order. My library had both books. Then I ordered and read his other 3 books. I wish he had more. I ordered PLAINSONG AND EVENTIDE from a used book store and sent to a friend. When I enjoy a book as much as those, I want to share them!
