Famous Chefs Helping with the Natural Disasters

I found this interesting. Thank you to all of the chefs who obviously are doing what they can!

Jose Andres

Prepared and delivered more than one million meals to residents of Puerto Rico. He flew down to work with a local chef and organized volunteers and food trucks to help around the island. Before this he helped Houston residents.

Guy Fieri

Had to evacuate his own home in Sonoma Valley, California. He has organized a makeshift outdoor kitchen at a local veterans' center, and he and his team of chefs are feeding more than 5,000 people each day. He has set up a donation page with the Salvation Army.

Bethenny Frankel

Chartered four planes to Puerto Rico to deliver 2,000 lbs. of non-perishable food, canned goods, water, and other necessities. She delivered supplies to earthquake victims in central Mexico. She has raised more than $300,000 for the Houston flood victims.

Mario Batali

Donated 10% of his restaurants' proceeds to residents in Puerto Rico and Haiti on World Food Day.

Emeril Lagasse

Participated in World Food Day by donating 10% of his restaurant's proceeds. He also donated another 10% of his restaurant's proceeds to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Wolfgang Puck

With other chefs, he hosted a fundraiser in Los Angeles that raised over $75,000 for victims of the hurricanes.

Paula Deen

Hosted a fundraiser in Texas for the flood victims. She also donated $25,000 and 40,000 lbs. of dog food.

That is wonderful to hear.

I've often read that American citizens are some of the most generous people in the world.

So many have such good hearts.

Thanks for this post.

Its nice to read amoungst all the tragedy lately- man made and "natural" disasters.

Bethenny Frankel is soooo far beyond 4 planes, etc.

She started 3 weeks ago....and still is going strong.

This is an example of her Twitter feed.

Just 8 hrs ago she was stil making it happen.

She’s definitely using social media to the fullest extent.

If supplies get to Florida, she can transport them to PR.

Amazing, amazing work this celebrity has done!

I think at this point, perhaps not, or it’s winding down. He still was two days ago, but the fires are nearly completely contained at this point and people who still have homes are going to be returning to them. OTOH he or his crew may do it for a few more days, for the displaced at the shelters who lost their homes. But the last news about him was two days ago.

Santa Rosa, the town with the heaviest home loss, is his home town. I’ve always heard him speak fondly of it and he seems very attached to the area. It’s devastation there now :-(

Re: Famous Chefs Helping with the Natural Disasters

It's great to see so many, famous or not, helping.  Even if it's for a short time, they did what they could.
