I have a ton of pictures to go through. I keep putting it off. My kids might want some of them the rest I will pitch. I hae no grandkids.
After my sister died my daughter and I were at her house with my BIL and my nieces. Sis was a packrat. Dear heaven the woman saved everything. We were going through bags and boxes of pictures. Some had to be 100 years old. Black and white, no one smiling, not even the kids. The one niece kept asking me who they were. lol How the h*ll do I know. I had no idea, no names or dates on the backs either. Anyone who might know is dead. Pitch them.
My late husband had a cousin whose wife was into the whole geneolgy thing. She gave each family a binder of the family history. It's big, I think she traced the famiy back to the stone age. lol. My husband is gone, I don't want it, it's not my family. One of my kids might want it. If not, I'm sure one of their cousins might take it.

@tends2dogs You said " One bright note, when you are dead and gone it isn't going to matter at all."
That's it In A Nutshell.
The way things are today, That goes for the photos and US TOO.

It's assumed that once dead the deceased will be unaware.
However, the living cannot know this and will only find out when they are also dead and it will be far too late.

@Mary Bailey "I have a box of antique photos of my greats and hubby's greats. I still like to look at them from time to time."
Years ago, my MIL gifted me with a handmade leather album from around the late 1800's-1900's. It has black paper for the backing of the photos inside. All of which are of my husband's family showing them at the ocean and at a park. All the ladies are wearing fancy hats. Obviously celebrating something important since the family was never wealthy and getting a photo shoot back then must have been really special.

David Eagleman: "There are three deaths. The first is when the body ceases to function. The second is when the body is consigned to the grave. The third is that moment, sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time."

I was just in the room where I have about five large family photos in frames. What can I do with them?
A few weeks ago DS showed me photos of his daughter in a graduation cap - from PreK. I wonder how many copies he bought. Mind you, this is the guy who chastises me for all the albums I have from his childhood. I love my albums but who knows what will happen to them.

@chickenbutt In my neighborhood there is this absolutely adorable young couple with two new babies and I gave her the majority of my purses most of which were either gently used or never used. She was thrilled and wrote me a beautiful thank you note. I'm also thinking of tunnels 2 towers for the rest. Love veterans and it's heartbreaking to hear their stories.
Also, I noticed you are a founder of the thread What are you doing? The lights are always on if you'd like to come back. ![]()

If you're referring to ShowMe, she won't be back, she died years ago.

@occasionalrain I have read the thread and I do know that ShowMe has unfortunately passed but that is not what I was talking about when I mentioned the thread as chickenbutt is around the 3rd poster on that thread, so yes she is ONE of the founders. That is what I meant. One of the founders.

@chickenbutt You left an indelible mark on ShowMe's thread and it would be great to see you post there again if you so desire. ![]()
