As Fall is arriving in some parts of the country, what are your Fall months? When does winter take its grip?
The Earth has reached a position where the sunlight angle has changed. I think plants and wildlife respond as much to that as to the temperature. Here in New Mexico's mountains, Fall is in the air. September and October are decidedly Fall months. November is a toss up. The ski area tries to open Thanksgiving weekend. Many years ago we would have very cold weather in late November and Winter snows began. In more recent times, November has been milder and more Fall-like. Winter has held off until December.

I think that Sept. and Oct. are our fall months. It can get pretty cool in Nov. and we are guaranteed snow in Dec. Fall it by far our shortest season.

Here in Colorado our fall season is very short lived. I can tell it has already started with sun casting long shadows on my lawn and the sound of the leaves in the trees is sounding a bit different with them rustling rather than being more quite in the wind. Usually by the end of October there will be snowfall, not much but it comes around Halloween, it seems, every year.

@On It If I were you, I think I'd just stay in those New Mexico mountains rather than go home to Texas right now.

I live in GA, about an hour north of Atlanta. It can still be warm, and sometimes hot, in October. I remember when we moved here 5 years ago and I took my daughter out for Halloween. We were sweating. She couldn't wait to get home and tear off that witch costume. I can get very cold here too. One winter it snowed and schools were closed for 3 days. I don't think they're used to it down here. Ha Ha. I look forward to the cooler months because it's just so hot and humid most of the time.

That is the best advice I have had in a long time. Texas is a train wreck on many, many fronts.

Well going by the calendar, it's still Summer until September 22. Going by the thermometer, September was always the hottest month in California. Same for here in Hawaii.
And as for Winter, it doesn't start until December 21.

The state of Texas is definitely dry and hot into September. It's definitely NOT a train wreck by any means. But I'm sure a lot of us could name several other states that are train wrecks but this is not the place to make comments like that. You know what I mean.

It went down to 53 last night in my area of the northeast. Low 70's this past week, high 70's next week, then a few days of low 80's, but cool in the evening.
It's been a very hot summer with too many days in the 90's, so this change has been a huge relief.
Temps here will jump up and down for a few weeks before they settle into cold. Winter coats around mid-November.

Here is WA state---fall is in the air--not many trees turning color yet but it's cooler at night. and really nice and warm but not hot during the day. Not much rain here since June tho--very unusual for here. Typical months of fall--Sept-Nov---Dec is wet and grey----trees are bare----
