I think Facebook is a wonderful tool for people like myself who have friends and family all over the world that they like to keep in touch with. You have to set your privacy settings very tight and only friend those you really want to talk to - also sometimes you have to know when it is not right and it's time to cut a friend loose.

In order to comment on a page, you have to "like" that page so yes, some are liking hosts' pages just to leave mean and hateful comments.  That I don't understand.

I have read some very, very weird comments on hosts' pages.  Some from what appear to be guys who have a crush on the host or some type of odd fetish.  Others from women who just leave one mean, nasty comment after the other and then there are those who engage the nasties and the trolls and it turns into one big free for all.

I read a lot of stuff that I don't agree with on FB, especially now that the election is in full swing.  I will not get into an argument with anyone on FB.  I just ignore them.  I get really disgusted with some of my friends who make a grand political statement but start the entire rant telling everyone that if you don't agree with them, don't comment because this is their opinion, they are entitled to it and they don't care about opposing views.  I'm always to tempted to tell them not to post it if they don't want opposing views.

I've blocked a few friends who are also relatives, because I don't want to unfriend them and cause a family argument and I'm unfriended a few people who were just over the top about things and I didn't want to deal with them anymore.

I'm on FB but I don't put any personal info on there and my page is private.

There are a lot of FB groups relating to my hobbies that I belong to and get info from.

There are also "for sale" groups for your area you can subscribe to.

My FB use has nothing to do with broadcasting personal info.

You can use FB the way you want; the way it suits you.

I think a lot of social media invites bad people and the Internet has become such a breeding ground for crime and people with the sick minds.

Not all of it is bad as long as it's used wisely and with care.

People that give their every move online are inviting problems.

Never have had a facebook account.  Hopefully never will.  I know how to socialize in the real world and how to interact with real people, circumstances, situations.  I socialize with those I CHOOSE  to socialize with and the BS you get from social media is just that - why waiste your precious time on this planet reading and corresponding with BSr's. LIfe is just too short.

@Puzzle Piece Isn't this community forum socializing and interacting outside "the real world"????  Do you consider this a waste of precious time?  Same thing as FB!

Not to me it isn't.  No required photos or sharing what you don't want or have to share.  No BS from me and that's why posts get deleted and others disagree.  Not all just stroking one another.

Last I heard, no personal photos were "required" in order to have a FB page. And just HOW is one FORCED to share "what you don't want or have to share"? Do the FB police come to your house with tazers and zap you if you don't? No BS from me either.  🙀

@Lipstickdiva, you only have to Like someone in order to comment on their page if that's how the page is set up. Many pages of celebrity-type are Public, and as long as you are a FB member you don't need to Like the page to post. It's a choice of the person the page belongs to whether or not you must Like their page in order to post. So yes, some do set them up that way, but it's not FB's rules/choice it's the choice of the person who set up the page.

Also, NEVER, EVER "click on" those movie posts!

What do you mean movie posts? I am trying to think of what those are but am drawing a blank.

I am not friends nor have I liked any of the QVC hosts pages but I have gone on to a few and read the comments. There are some really strange people out there. You have those that are obsessed with the hosts and really cross the line asking crazy personal questions and then you have those that do not like the hosts and leave nasty and immature posts.  I don't understand why anyone would take the time to friend or "like" a persons FB page when they do not like them. When you dislike someone, yet make a concerted effort to keep up with their lives (following them on social media) you look like a jealous and envious little hater. It is just so stupid.

The QVC host pages, and the pages of most people in the public eye, are public pages - no one needs to join FB or Like the person in order to look at/read their FB page, though you do need a FB account to post.

I didn't say that they did. I was commenting on why people who can't stand a host  (or any public person) go there and  leave hateful messages.

Your comment "I don't understand why anyone would take the time to friend or "like" a persons (sic) FB page when they do not  like them" certainly sounds like you think people have to Like someone in order to follow them or post.

The "you must be jealous" thing is so old...and so untrue. But yeah, so easy to whip out. Not to mention that "hateful" is overblown...and open to individual interpretation anyway.

Some people do take the time to like pages. It may be old but that doesn't make it not true. Those who can't stand a host yet stalk their social media definitely got something going on otherwise why waste your time? Sounds like I touched a nerve.

Nope, sorry. LOL "touched a nerve." You're making incorrect statements about FB and I'm challenging that.  As far as "just jealous", I have long found it a ridiculous and juvenile comment, and have said so in these forums, *whoever or whatever* the subject was - no one 'speshul' in mind.

'Stalk'? LOLOL.

Oh please - there is absolutely no doubt that there are many on this board AND on FB who are very jealous of what they perceive others have that they don't and they act like 14 year olds when they get like that.  Thios place gets like the school bus meanies in a nanosecond.

Oh good grief!  facebook is just like everything else, it has it's good and bad.  facebook continually outs forth new instruments to use to protect privacy and news feed.

I have a wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide spectrum of page "likes."  I "like" museums from all over the world, news sources, HONY, vendors, authors, singers, etc.

I DO NOT follow QVC or their hosts, nor any other shopping board hosts.

How did jealousy enter the picture?  Scratching my head over that one.
