The man wanted for shooting dead a 74-year-old man and posting video of the heinous act to Facebook has committed suicide.
A tip came in shortly after 11am Tuesday that a car matching the description of Steve Stephens' white Ford Fusion was parked outside a McDonald's near Erie, Pennsylvania, Cleveland, Ohio Police Chief Calvin Williams said at a press conference.
When cops responded to the fast food restaurant, Stephens got in his car and fled the scene.
A short pursuit ensued, but eventually cops cornered Stephens on a stretch of Buffalo Road, near a old elementary school, where he came to a stop.
Officers were walking over to arrest Stephens when he shot himself inside his vehicle around 11:10am.
More information will be released at a second press conference later Tuesday.
The street has been blocked off while police carry out their investigation.

His girlfriend left him and he lost money gambling...price two lost lives and many heartbroken family and friends.

And all that the elderly gentleman, 74, who was shot, did is go out picking up discarded cans for recycling, his 'hobby', while he waited for his wife to cook his lunch.
He was a father of 9, grandfather of 14 and had multiple great-grands....there's were the true tragedy lies, IMO.
I just can't say "RIP" to the killer personally......

I am surprised that the moderators would allow this thread and not mark it as too controversial.

It was tragedy all around. I'm glad the police didn't shoot him because that removed any questions and concerns about a police shooting. I just wish he hadn't, in his crazy warped mind, felt that he had to kill perfect stranger.

No more 'controversial' that many other threads here on CC.
As long as no one makes it 'argumentative' or ugly.
I think it's important to let the public, who live in the areas where they were looking for him, know that the threat from him is over.

I'm sorry, but I can't work up any tears over the guy killing himself.
He saved the taxpayers money by not housing him in prison for the rest of his life, and a trial.
