I don't need FB or Messenger to do any of my shopping or be notified of purchases thru FB.
FB does not need to make a platform so people can shop going thru FB that's just another site with your info that has no reason to have it.
I use Paypal a lot so I don't have to spread my cc info all over the internet. I don't need Paypal notifying FB of any of my purchases. My Discover card will notify me of all transactions.
I bank with a credit union & I'm pretty sure they won't be involved in this.
FB, Government & everyone else stay out of our business.

I know that I miss a few cute photos and maybe some things I might find interesting, but hardly a day goes by when I don't feel glad that we were advised to protect our privacy by staying off Facebrook.

I think the reason FB is pushing Messenger is that so many people no longer email, especially the very young, that they would rather get all their "emails" on Messenger, so it's all in one place.
I have 5 nieces and nephews and none of them have emails. They have gmail accounts that they don't check that they have to have for various confirmations for things they do on their phones.
Of course this is great for FB as a business.

Yet one more reason I'm not on fb.

I highly doubt a bank would agree to such a thing, for two reasons: loss of banking customers and banking information is extremely private.

If this goes through, I am done with Facebook. Period.

why does facebook feel the need to do this?

@VaBelle35: Good point. Facebook is losing the younger demographic to Instagram and Snapchat. This is a way of getting back some of that age group.
