@foxywoods I am curious, lol about this "epicurean" delight your son ordered. Obviously he was a good reader, and scoured the menu. What made him decide on this dish? Did it look good when he got it? I am wondering about oysters and rabbit. lol what an adventurous spirit lol. This is something my grandson woukd do, and if he didn't like it when he got it he would have gobbled it up anyway to spite everyone lol

@shoekitty Its been so long I can't recall what it looked like! We always took him out to dinner with us when he was a baby and we used a portable baby food mill so he could eat what we ordered. We would say "We are going to a real resteraunt so you need to be very good!" Plus, I think he was a bit of an attention hound sometimes and it was the Oysters and Wild mushrooms that caught his eye. He would eat acorns and mushrooms in my Mom's backyard and I had to call Poison Control one time because he ate a mushroom but he was fine. He also liked smoked Eel and my Dad fished alot and Mom cooked what he caught. He could devour a whole lobster before I even tried a bite. He loves Sashimi and all sorts of Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, like Shawarma.
I never had to coax him to eat, even veggies. He doesnt have a sweet tooth though.

My neighbor told me her six year old son asked her husband: "Daddy, were you alive before TV was invented?". Her husband was born in 1989!

When my niece came home from kindergarten one day, she asked my sister-in-law if she was her mother or her stepmother. Nearly 50 years later we still laugh about it.

When my daughter was very young, we were grocery shopping. She might have been around three years old. She spotted watermelon and asked me to buy some.
It was winter time and I told her it was too expensive and would not really be tasty out of season. She still insisted. When I asked her if she would take apples or oranges instead, she said no.
She said she wanted a little brother or sister and I needed to eat watermelon seeds to have a baby. I asked where she heard that and she said she figured it out.
If you want a black baby, you should eat black seeds and only white seeds if you wanted a white baby.
This kid was a doozy. She wanted to know what was wrong with our family. ??? She questioned why she had no step parents or half siblings like normal people.
My oldest son went with me to the farmers market. I asked the butcher for ham hocks. My son thought they were birds..ham hawks. The butcher got a big laugh and my son was mad and upset and wouldn't go to the market with me again.
I could write a book with my kids and grandkids crazy statements. They were fun times.

Back when DS was still needing help in regards to brushing his teeth, I was explaining why we do that.
His quip: "Gravity-Cavity".

"I have one older granddaughter who is extremely gifted, i
MENSA smart. But,extremely hard on herself if she errs, even at a young age. Nothing we did, lol cause the other kids didn't follow suit. lol."
I get why you said that nothing you did caused the other kids to be MENSA smart.
I hate the implication that all parents of highly intelligent children are automatically "hot-housing" them. Been there; done that.
As I have always contended...without natural ability, one cannot achieve certain kinds of success.
Anyway, most will understand this statement if put into the context of a dog.
Without the natural ability to sniff out a certain scent, said animal will not.
Not everyone can be whatever they want to be...THAT is a lie told to children that burns my bra!!!

He also called the Curious George books Kerosene George
Absolutely love this! DS has so many CG books and CD's from his childhood. One of which I had to purchase for him because his school wouldn't let him check their copy out anymore!
He said CG isn't a monkey, though.
But we went with the narrative. ![]()
