Re: FUN What about if we used code?

I avoid Titles that are abbreviated. Not interested.

I also do not read Posts like that either. About becomes abt. Can't they affort an o and u? It's a very short word.

Don't like ........ Are we doing morse code?

What if we used code in our title bars? Maybe FUN to begin a title about something silly or humorous?

ANI for animal pictures and stories not in the Pet Lovers?

It has become sometimes difficult to tell from titles what topics really are about.  For people in a hurry, someone taking a quick look it would be nice to know more about what you are opening IF the title isn't a clue.

Maybe you need a funny--and it would help to know where they are.

What 'ya think?

I don't get it? It takes a few seconds to write the title. You'd have to be pretty slow if you don't get the drift of what the post is about. Just SAY IT in your title???

I'm in favor of MORE information, not less.  I don't like the guessing games when people use initials.  Just spell it out.

Everything concerning animals should be in Pet Lovers.  Period.  There's a reason we have forum titles.

Re: FUN What about if we used code?

I'm only on these forums because I have time to kill so spending a few seconds opening a thread to see what it's about is no big deal.  If of no interest, I go on to the next.  Could never remember to do what the OP suggests.

@Sooner .  Most posts are in the correct Forum Titles so it's easy to decide to open or not.

Code wouldn't be as easy to discern as to what is in the post as fully spelled out words in the title.

Re: FUN What about if we used code?

If it's currently difficult to tell by the title what the topic is about, then how would using code give you more of a clue?

Way too much "coded" messages on this board as it is. Way too much in the world in general. Say what you mean, mean what you say.

And as far as the use of initials and acronyms, I always thought proper writing etiquette was to have it spelled out initially before using shortcuts. On message boards some are very common and understood, but some do stretch the limits when out of nowhere initials are used for brands, products, host, or vendors.

Re: FUN What about if we used code?

Why?  I don't think anyone has a problem understanding the titles.  At least I haven't seen anyone complain.   But your code idea would only work and be user friendly if someone developed the code, documented it and dispersed it to posters, current and future.  Can you imagine the confusion if everyone made up their own codes/abbreviations?
