I thought this thread was just a continuation of the "Love Story" miniseries resurgence in interest of Jackie Kennedy. If it was started to denigrate her legacy, I would never have replied to it. And yes @reiki604 , sadly, her legacy already has been torn up and destroyed. Cannot be denied...

I don't think it was started to denigrate her legacy.

I have not seen that in the topics started by this OP.

I'm surprised that people are so kindly toward JK since, aside from a stray malcontent here and there, most Kennedys have a legacy of justice and equity, international diplomacy and public service as a family obligation.

Re: FOOD PREFERENCES OF JACKIE ONASSIS

I'm sorry to hear of your struggles with healthy food options, @LTT1 .  How frustrating.  Do keep researching and attempting to obtain whole, less processed and healthy alternatives to support your health.

Discerning people have always been fascinated by Jackie's intelligence, her aesthetic, her arresting and unusual beauty, her grace, and complexity. I think it will always be so.  She wasn't perfect, of course, but she was so interesting and never 'all one thing'.

One way that she was really on point was her avoidance of too much sun.  She wore a hat whenever she was going to be exposed for long periods, and kept up a disciplined skin care regime.  And she was very aware of the benefits of regular exercise, which she pursued consistently.

I love the literary side of her, her love of books, art, decoration of all kinds, including interiors.

An historical figure who yeilds more and more with examination.

In this photo, she looks like she worked with a trainer.

Did women do that back then?

@Tinkrbl44   I am 78, no trainers I know of until maybe the 1990's, lol,  no gyms for women. But I am sure Jackie played lots of tennis, and she sailed as well. I remember the first gym I went o for some had rollers, those belt things. Very old school.

OMG, that reminded me of a commercial from childhood ....  I believe it was Jack LaLanne having women stand on a platform with a large cloth belt around their behinds, and it was jiggling them like crazy!

Supposedly, it was to get them back in shape.  LOL

But you can't deny the darker side of the Kennedy men, starting with old man Joe--their insolence, entitlement and abuse of women over the years.  And remember Teddy and Chappaquiddick where he left that poor woman to drown? And he got away with it.  Disgusting.

The 1939 film "The Women" depicted a very high end salon with a gymnasium featuring cycles, rowing machines and calisthenics.   Rosalind Russell "crawled" a wall for toning and fitness:

Re: FOOD PREFERENCES OF JACKIE ONASSIS

@Tinkrbl44 ,  good question.  Having read a bit about her life in Manhattan, I think she may have periodically made use of some private gyms.  She definitely worked with a trainer or trainers, notably Joan Pagano.  Her preference of course was for outdoor exercise of several types, her favorite being riding, I think.

The internet has her measurements as 35.5-26-38.5. Maybe the comment about “wide hips” is in proportion to her chest? Or if you compare her to Marilyn Monroe’s measurements of 36-24-34 (who some called “plus size”). I wonder if Jackie would have indulged more had she known her life would be cut so short at 64? A truly remarkable human!
