To  lose your home no matter who you are is just devastating. I am sure they are heart broken... So glad they are all safe.

Even if you can replace everything like they can, you still have loss of things that are not replaceable... things money and fame can not buy.  mementos and family heirlooms.

So true.

Since Rachael's been doing her show from home, in her own kitchen, she's always pointing out knick-knacks, wall art, etc., that friends/family have given her, that had a special meaning to her.

And John is in a band (among many other things!) and writes music in their home studio, hope he also didn't lose anything irreplaceable too.

Material things can be replaced, tokens of a memory, not so much.

Her home is on 220 acres in the Adirondack Mountains, no surprise that there weren't any fire hydrants.

She can't replace the lost mementos, not everything has a "price".

I had a brother who lost everything in a house fire, family pictures, heirlooms, everything.

It was heartbreaking because he couldn't get those things back.

Well that would explain it! It's awful she lost so much. No one is really completely self sufficient. Still need a fire crew's help even out on a huge expanse like that. It must have been heartbreaking for her. When you put so much care and effort into your home, it's not something that anyone can replace.

@KingstonsMom   You miss quoted me...I was only commenting that she could afford the expensive fire insurance you were talking about.....not that she could afford  lost memories.  Where did you come up with that?  You never mentioned that in your post?

You replied that she could "AFFORD ANY PRICE".
