Guard Dogs Adopt Abandoned Kitten as Part of Their Pack

It's the sweetest sign the world is ending: Cats and dogs living together.

This adorable abomination is happening all across the world, including in Mt. Vernon, Oregon, where two guard dogs just adopted an abandoned kitten.

Tiffany Hull recently added a kitten name Jake to her litter of pets, after her two female dogs, Chaos and Atilla, refused to leave the baby cat alone, reports the Associated Press.

Several weeks ago, Chaos found the kitten in Hull's backyard and brought it inside unharmed — unusual behavior for a canine that often hunts birds and chipmunks. The little animal, who hadn't opened its eyes, was likely just over a week old. Worried a mother cat would be looking for her, Hull's boyfriend placed the kitten back outside in an area where the mother could find it.

The next day, tiny Jake was still outside alone and defenseless, something Chaos did not appreciate. After the kelpie mix tried to bring the kitten in again, Hull decided to make Jake an official member of the family. The dog owner brought the kitten inside, wrapped him in blankets and started bottle-feeding him.

Five weeks later, Jake is in great health and being cared for by three moms: Hull, Chaos and Atilla. Originally, Chaos wanted to hoard all the mothering duties to herself, growling at Atilla whenever she tried to get close to Jake, but now the pair of pooches happily share custody. Good news for Atilla, who was left infertile at a young age after being hit by a car.

Seeing her dogs' maternal instincts kick in has been especially inspiring to Hull, who recently announced she is expecting her first child. She hopes Chaos and Atilla will show the same protectiveness and love for her human baby.

But it is Jake who is the real winner in this situation, because he gets to spend his days snuggling and playing with two devoted dog moms.
