I have not been on Facebook in a month because someone hacked my account! I tried to go through all their steps to to fix it and even created another account with a different email address but the get bumped off followed by an email that says I am trying to imitate someone else. I emailed their support, but they are unwilling to do anything unless I provide my drivers licence, birth certificate and/or credit card.!!! Has anyone had this experience? They don't even have my phone number correct so they can't contact me that way. I feel disconnected! Suggestions? Similar experience? How did you resolve it?

I don't think you're corresponding with the real FB! Why would they need your phone number or credit card info? I was hacked last year and they (FB) notified me of the issue because my sister reported it. It took less than three hours for them to fix the problem.

it was taken care of quickly like this for us too when my hubby got hacked......He was stupid enough to click on a link that said it would show him who clicks on his name the most on FB.....

I think if you have multiple accounts ...they might ask for some kind of ID.....but I would NEVER give out credit card....birth certificate.....to use Social Media!!

Interesting I wonder it this has anything to new with FB's effort to self police etc

@MezzieStarr, I had no idea that FB has these policies. I'm glad to know that certain situations are vetted.

What do you mean by "hacked"?  Did someone post false posts or fake pictures?

@Shiloh09

A birth certificate sounds very very odd!!!   So does a credit card why would they need to verify you with a credit card for Facebook?  Too personal of info to release to who knows how many chanels of people...........

I only created an account in order to stay on top of our Community's information.  We're a community out in the country separated by 5 - 10 acres and it's hard to know what's going on, so I signed up.... even though I really didn't care for the concept.

But it kept me informed and while doing so, I messed around on it trying to find people from my past.... and to my surprise, I did!  I found my Mother's best friend (whom we lost contact) and her 2 daughters.

I was thrilled by this (and am grateful to FB) because we're now in touch. However, to the one daughter... FB is her life!  She's on 24/7.... at no time have I gone onto her page and she's not been there.... but no problem in that because she loves it, but I really don't, and have a hard time making myself communicate there.

We've communicated through Face Time (Iphone) and FB Messenger but I still don't like Facebook.  I'm trying because I see the advantages and am grateful to FB to be in touch..... but I just don't like it.....  have an undercurrent of mistrust for Facebook and the one that owns it....  and wil give them no further information....
