On MSM today, woman in Chicago thought she could apply for a government grant for $20,000 that you don't have to pay back.

She made a video thanking the government for the money, someone closed down her FB page and contacted people she knew with the video attached.

Contacted FB about the scam and was told "it's not against Community Standards".

There you go FB users, you are not protected nor are they interested in protecting you.

The entire story is online today if you are interested in getting "the rest of the story".

Re: FACEBOOK SCAM

[ Edited ]

I would never go on Facebook or any "social media."  Don't see the point.  I keep in touch with those important to me via emails or phone calls.  And yes, I know this is considered "social media" but I'm here to check out the QVC items first and come to the forums to kill time--LOL!!

Facebook is not safe.  In fact neither is You Tube or Twitter etc.   What makes it worse is people putting all their information on their page and then pictures of all their family.  It is a shame that so many are so dumb.

That one particular woman was as you said "dumb".... Most on facebook don't give out private information.   You are a worry wart..   Relax.   Life must be very stressful for you.

I think the main issue is that FB didn't consider the scam to be against their terms of service. That is worrying.

Facebook is full of ads for merchandise for sale by Chinese scam artists.  If I can recognize them, surely Facebook's highly paid "experts" know what they are.  They don't care; they just want the advertising dollars.  Then they wonder why their image is in the toilet.  DON'T BUY FROM FACEBOOK ADS, NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE DEAL SOUNDS.

@Junebug54 You presume to know that someone's life is stressful. Isn't that special!

@Junebug54   If you are speaking to me you are dead wrong!  Most people put their life on FaceBook.   I have 2 FaceBook accounts and Two YouTube accounts so I know what I am talking about.  I see people daily getting hacked, Doxed etc.   I don't worry, I am just very cautious as many people are not.  You obviosly have been very lucky or your not involved on Social Media as I am .

@Love my grandkids   Thank You!   My life is not stressful at all.  Being Cautious does not mean your life is stressful.
