@Flika13 I was able to reuse my Silhouttes at the local shop I prefer to any of the national chains, but that was a few years back so I can't tell you if they are still offering them.

I have my eyes examined once a year and there's usually enough of a change in my vision (either plus or minus) to require new glasses. I've always been able to reuse the frames on alternating years. I'm sure some of those frames have been Silhouettes. If you think about it, the Lions Club wouldn't be able to reuse old pairs of eyeglasses if what you were told was true.

At a National chain last month..I couldn't find frames that I really liked..They used the ones that I have..I had to sign a waiver that if the frames broke..they were not responsible.
I was not a money thing just didn't like anything.
My glasses came back fine with my new progressive, transition lenses.

I have always used my original frames until I get tired of them----never have been told I couldn't. My frames are plastic and metal so not like OPs but still---I think the optical business is pretty much a scam anyway----hundreds of $$ for the lenses---oh come on------![]()

@patbz wrote:Always buy new frames when I renew my prescription annually. Not a problem as my progressives, including frames were $110 and DH's progressives and frames were $67 (thank you Zennioptical).
@patbz what?????? I have vision insurance through my DH and I just had to get progressive lenses. With my insurance, which is really good, I paid $687.00 for my exam, contact lense fitting, frames and lenses. That doesn't include my contacts.

@Lipstickdiva : I have been using Zennioptical for 18 years ( as have others on this board) and their glasses are terrific and stylish. They are all online and are made in China. Their Customer Service is terrific and in California. I have never had "terrific" optical insurance and as a retiree I have none. From start to finish, I get my glasses in 2 weeks, You need your PD, which your doctor will give you if you ask or Zenni gives you directions on how to measure yourself.

So do we ,and never have our glasses been less than $550.00. This in not because of expensive frames, just the lenses. On my last visit i wanted a back-up pair using my old frame and the cost was over $1000.00! No thanks!

I always get new glasses when I get a new prescription. I know they are expensive, but I only have one pair of eyes and I am so nearsighted that I need to wear them all the time. It's nice to change up every 2 or 3 years. Glasses are one thing I don't mind splurging on.

I was able to reuse frames. Recently I lost my beautiful prescription glasses. I could not believe it. Went to the three places I was at that day. I had my sunglasses on, and stupid me had my pres. ones hanging on my shirt . Figured i lost them when I bent down to get something from a shelve in the store.
I kept going back for weeks and calling and no luck in finding them. I had old pairs at home I wore until my new glasses were ready. Loved the frames and had to replace with frames that are OK, but not like my old ones.
What a bad week that was. Had a new roof on house, 19,000, my car broke down, close to 2,000 and then new glasses, 300.00. Bummer, when things happen. My fault on the glasses. I went on Amazon and found some beautiful chains to hold the glasses around my neck. The chains, which I nevere liked wearing before, are really very pretty, like jewerly.
They look good with the new frames. I keep looking for my old frames, because no one can wear the glasses,
they are a strong prescription, but they can use the frames for new glasses, so I don't understand anyone being told they can't use their frames for new lenses. I also have silhoutte frames.
