As I recall, the OP's daughter is a college graduate. It took her a long time to find even part-time work. If it were my daughter, I would not put her job in jeopardy. I would encourage her to find full-time employment, as I'm sure the OP has done.

lulu2 -

The point is that they are treating her poorly - making her clean up blood in the men's room w/o proper equipment. They are almost asking her to leave.

I think this job wasn't close to home and it's not the first run in she has had with the manager.

Now that she is working...she needs to apply closer to home for another job - even another fast food job. Since she is working now...it will be easier for her to get another job.

I think this is awful. The manger was not trained. I'd report it to the head office.

You have posted some very thoughtful and helpful posts on this thread terrier. I applaud you.

Wow...thank you...

Did you know it's my birthday?

I'm waiting for my son to take me to Dinosaur BBQ.

He just got a production job he needs to edit...and I got a school board client I have to get on the air STA...so it will be a late lunch.

Probably why I'm so ""funny"" today!

ha! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! You have been very funny today. I'm enjoying your company

I am well aware she is an adult, and that's why I haven't done anything.

She is understandably afraid to make waves. I will admit it never occurred to me that she would be exposed to disease in this job!! Other hazards, sure. Like burns, lifting, being yelled at, harrassed by drunks, etc.

She is required to "double back" and work, as long as there is 8 hours between shifts. She has worked all hours, all days and every combination.

They do not employ a separate cleaning crew. I would imagine a cleaning crew WOULD be INSTRUCTED on dealing with biohazards. The restaurant workers do all the cleaning too. I don't think a minimum wage worker (or anyone) should be asked to expose themselves to infectious disease without protection. Yes, I do live in the real world.

There are people who don't seem to understand it is NOT easy to find ANY job today, unless you have a really marketable skill. Yes, she IS looking for another job as she has a year of job experience. We didn't spend as much money as we did to send her to college for her to work in a fast food restaurant, but that is today's reality.

As an RN, I know there are inherent risks of the job. If one joins the military, you know the risks. I just want her to have a REASONABLE degree of safety. As a parent, who wouldn't?

Are there any Dunkin Donuts near you? They tend to have better hours and most of their food comes shipped to the store.

When my friend quit as manager at Taco Bell - 4 of his guys quit too...they went to the Dunkin Donuts across the street.

Your daughter has been great to stick with that job. Fast food is dirty, tiring, stressful and doesn't pay well.

Now that she has experience, maybe you can try places closed to home with better hours...maybe a waitress?

I know it's not design...but it's a job.

My son worked at Walmart all through college and grad school. He then worked there p/t until he got his freelance production/film business up and running.

All work has dignity...and I admire you daughter for putting up with everything she has. But with that experience, she should look for a change.

How about a Costco or Trader Joe's. The one pays well and hires a wide variety of people, Both stores seem to have a relatively happy work environment. There are help wanted signs at both stores in my area, too.

I'd suggest she check out businesses that hire people with special needs.
