Food for thought - we are engaged in a war in the far east. Every day we are dropping bombs on them, we have snipers there, every horrid thing that is war -- and yet we think that there will not be retaliation here. We niavely think we are safe at home. We are at war people and that war, thankfully, has mostly been far away. But to think nothing will happen here - well isn't that pretty dumb.

It's the Middle East not the Far East .  I don't  know what USA you live in but in the USA that I live in, there isn't anyone over the age 10 that thinks "nothing will happen here".  You know....9/11 and all.   We don't anything about the incident last night, for all we know it was just been  vandalism or domestic terroris.  You know as in Oklahoma City or all those school shootings.  It hasn't even been 24 hrs yet, so it's much too early to start running around placing blame.  It happened, it's being investigated.  There were no deaths or life threatening injuries.  The investigation is underway, the clean up is underway and I have no doubt that the neighborhood and NYC as whole is getting on with business.   That's what we do.

The Minnesota mall attack was linked to terrorism.

FYI:

New York blast 'obviously an act of terrorism,' governor says

"A bomb exploding in New York is obviously an act of terrorism," Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters Sunday, vowing that authorities will catch whoever is responsible.

The governor said there's no evidence of an international terrorism link to Saturday's blast, which shook New York City's Chelsea neighborhood and sent panicked people scrambling for cover.

I liked Mario Cuomo better.  His dad, I think?  Wonderful leader.  They don't know yet.

I liked the "intentional" comment from the mayor : it was intentional.  It was murderous.  They are still investigating, if the news hasn't changed since when I saw it.  (I am working today and got up early.)

As of then: They have surveillance video of someone putting the device into a dumpster that exploded on a video tape.

My main interest:  I have three friends in Chelsea.  They are OK.  The injured people are expected to be OK.  As of 7AM one was still hospitalized but expected to be OK.

I think these attacks are linked in some manner and may be a precursor to a late October or election eve/day attack.  I hope I'm wrong.

@patbz

I fear that you may be right.

I wonder who came up with the idea to do this?

I think that it is a very interesting "coincidence" that a pressure cooker bomb was found, just like the ones that the Boston bombers used.

My best friend just landed in NYC a few hours ago. She's staying a week for work - at a Times Square hotel.

One of the things I admire about New Yorkers (and Israelis too) is that they just get on with it.

They won't let the bad guys stop them from living their lives in the most vibrant city in the world.

Good for them!

In my thoughts, T. is T., no matter who, what, where, how, etc.  The agenda is usually the same; to T-ize.   jmo, of course.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
