I'd put them in the "they're so homely they're cute" category. I can remember when moms would have sacrificed their right arm to get their hands on one.

I couldn't stand them as a child, or when they came back, or now. I just can't stand them , but they just keep coming back !

I love Cabbage Patch dolls.  It's so nice to see them being sold in stores today.
