Evine charge card holders-- check shopping cart, possible hack

[ Edited ]

Every day I go to the Evine website to check to see if any of the items on my wish list have been reduced in price. Imagine my surprise when I sign into my account this morning & find over $2.100 in items in my shopping cart, items that I didn't put there. Luckily, the order hadn't been placed yet so I removed everything from my shopping cart. I then contacted Evine immediately to get a new card. The entire process is automated, I never once spoke to a "live" person. To get a new card number, you have to state that your card was stolen.

I had something similar happen.  When I try to add an item to my cart, I got a message that there were over $1,000 worth of items.  I checked but nothing was there.  Weird.

I had quite a shock when I saw the order total, I didn't realize at first that the order hadn't actually been placed yet. Once I noticed that it hadn't, I immediately deleted everything & cleared out my cart, then I contacted Evine to get a new card number.

In the future, I won't be saving my Evine card info (any credit card info for that matter) in my account. If I can't pay for something in one payment, I don't really need the item.

That is truly weird.  I have never used Evine, but it sounds as if they might have been hacked and someone is checking to see who watches their credit cards and who doesn't before they go ahead and use the numbers.  Just makes no sense.

Did you check your profiles to make certain your address was still correct?

I didn't even think of doing that, thank you millieshops. Right now I'm at HSN to check for shenanigans there. HSN seems to be ok, all my info at Evine is correct. I called Customer Service to pay off all of my outstanding value pays & will no longer utilize that option. If I can't afford to pay for an item in one payment, I don't need that item.

I never knew Evine had a wish list? Can you tell me where that is.

Hi Becky,

It's actually a saved for later items list, I call it my wish list. I put the item (s) that I want in my shopping cart then hit the checkout button. On the order review screen you have the option to remove the item or save for later. Choose save for later, that will empty out your shopping cart & create a saved for later list of items that you just had in your cart. To see the list, click on "cart"

I mentioned this during the SKINN event on that thread... I would go to check out and there would be watches and waterford and electronics coming to thousands. Why?

I was told it's a glitch by CS. That's a pretty bad glitch.

That's some glitch. That's ok, once my Value Pay payments clear, I'll be removing ALL charge cards that I have saved on their website. I won't be using the Value Pay option any more so that will cut down on what I spend with them. I'll add my form of payment as I place an order, then I'll delete it immediately.

Re: Evine charge card holders-- check shopping cart, possible hack

I've had items added to my shopping cart at both HSN and Evine that I didn't put there.  I always considered it a glitch.  Nothing has ever happened.  No actual purchases were ever made.

I just went and checked my Evine account and nothing is in my shopping cart.  I checked my Evine CC and still has a zero balance so nothing funny has gone on.  Knock on wood.
