Thats why they are angels as are Nurses and especially Hospice Nurse. I would be much too emotional.
Yes, me too...much too emotional plus get queasy at the sight of blood, vomit, etc.

THIS is part of the reason I backed off...
I STILL remember my first death (in hospital) after we worked for a LONG time to try and stabilize.
Our head nurse was so kind.. She looked at my face and said ""go outside for a few if you want""... walked out and BAWLED ..I felt a tap and it was a P.O I knew.. All he said was "" I have cried too""...

((( gubby)))
THIS is why I posted earlier I would NEVER diminish their knowledge...

EMT, I don't know if you saw the edit to my post, but right after I posted, I realized I may have inadvertently suggested EMT-Bs weren't as smart. I really didn't mean that at all, and quickly edited my post. I think all medical professionals are lifesavers. Sorry for my poor communication skills.

I couldn't do it nor could I be a nurse. I just can't imagine facing that everyday going to work. It's awful but thank goodness for those who don't mind.

Ridiculous! I posted this late at night for Jules and Mistrisquirrel since they are going through what I did. Now, that I am caring for my stepmom I wouldn't want to lift her as her bones are very brittle.
What did you go though?
It sounds like you got help and the standard treatment.
My dad fought lung cancer and then bone and brain cancer when it metastasized. He was sick for 7-1/2 years before he died. I drove him to his chemo sessions. It was horrible and he periodically passed out while in his wheelchair from his blood pressure being out of whack from his illness and medication. Calling 911 put him through a revolving door of going to the hospital which he did not want.

I HOPE I don't offend anyone by saying this...
I think those who are NOT trained and still save a life are amazing .. .I JUST read about someone who saved a life by grabbing the AED and had NO training...
..After all, this is what we went to school for...

I would hope I would be able do that....Using a defibrillator without training. I think they make them with very easy to read instructions for people without a medical background but I still would hope that someone else would do it instead of me.
