My friend served a bison meatloaf. When served I did not know it was bison until later. I could politely barely get it down. I don't care how healthy it is, it hated the taste.

@songbird Hooved feet?
@songbird Lev11:3-6
It's a hoof that is divided into two making it look like two digists (toes) A pig has cloven hooves but does not chew it's cud, so to a Muslim or a Jew, it's unfit to eat. Not only that, only the the front of the animal is eaten. Less desirable as food as it tends to be tough. Koshering also means salted to let blood run out. Kosher beef is not very good to eat. It's enough to make you a vegan....which is kosher all the time.

@Queen of shop Yes, same animal.
No, they are not the same animal.
People often mistakenly call bison 'buffalo' but they are two different species altogether.

I have never had one in a restaurant--I made them at home and they were not good--am sure I am to blame for that--but have bought ground beefalo in my grocery store--it's ok, still very lean and was price higher than normal beef ---think I bought it years ago so the prices were not as stupid then as they are now.

The words "bison burger" brought back memories ....
Gee .... that was a long time ago about the late 90s. We were an online political discussion group, and most of us were NYers with shared political views. Those were some fun days!
One Friday night we met at Fraunces Tavern downtown ... and bison burgers were on the menu ... and most of us ordered them. They must have been good ... I don't recall any comments to the contrary.
Some of you may recall from your school days. / American History classes ..... Fraunces Tavern was George Washington's headquarters around the time of the American Revolution - and the perfect venue for our meeting!
