My trip was to go to Vegas and drive to the Grand Canyon. Didn't go down or had a raft ride (which sounds amazing) @Witchy Woman . The view was spectcular. Over a while, it was more of the same but truly breathtaking. Saw the painted dessert and petrified forest. Never kenw about petrified wood. So of course, luggage was full of rocks and some cacti.

Not a gambler but took full advantage of the really cheap $$ for great buffets. Prime rib to decadent desserts. We stayed at a Motel 8 (in our 20s) and ate at the casinos.

@Yahooey ...LOL...I can just picture our yahooey hauling a piece of luggage through the airport full of rocks and cacti!...I love it!...So, did you create a lovely rock and cacti garden when you got back to New York City?...Do you have a patio area or small yard area where you live?

Silly @MyShadowLove

rocks in checked luggage and cacti was carryon - everyone knows that lol

did almost the same thing when I went to Hawaii - carried all sorts of orchids home (cheap) and the vendor said easy to grow - 20 years later and I'm still waiting for them to bloom. They won't die either so I get leaves and roots - sigh

I no longer have any cacti - was in a phase then

I have about 15 orchids - some have bloomed, some never did but most of them just mock me

these 2 I have bought in the last 2 years and the penguin plant (recieved from my niece a year ago - is that a version of cacti?)

@Yahooey ...What a gorgeous picture!...Your stained glass window is lovely!...Your orchids are beautiful filled with buds and bloomingl...I'm not familiar with "penguin plants", but it definitely does look like it is from the cacti family....They all look very healthy!...I'm trying to make out the face on the adorable planter?

Such a happy cheerful visual display! Cat Happy

I laughed when I read about hauling rocks and cacti....Did you ever see the Lucille Ball movie, "Long, Long Trailer?"

She picks up rocks all along their travels and loads down the huge trailer.  It nearly causes a catastrophe.

It is very funny.  If you Love Lucy, you will adore it.  But it was the first thing I thought of.

I had a bunch of beach stones once and just dumped them out into our driveway Cat LOL

Have a new found love of cactus, but would never collect them.  However, if you love that image, Target has an adorable cactus cookie jar.

In fact, I'm using one to make a gift basket with all cactus-themed items.

Cactus are a very popular motif right now!

Grampa Mason is like the Pied Piper to the kittens.

So sweet to see him gather them like little flowers.  Like I said, he's a Magic Cat!

@Yahooey

I agree that the grouping is beautiful.  That looks like an aloe plant of some kind to me.  Love the penguin planter and....love your stained glass!

I adore orchids but would never get one.  The few things I've planted that didn't bloom go back to the earth Cat LOL

I'm ruthless when it comes to getting rid of non-producing plant life.
