Affluenza is the most disturbing defense I can imagine. Wow. Too rich to understand consequences of conduct....killed people but too priveleged to understand the consequence.
I think ink that a lot of people are saying "I told you so" right now!

I cannot even imagine the pain the parents of the children that died must feel. This case seems to make a mockery of our justice system, beyond tragic and so damaging in so many more ways, very sad.

Why would they bother to run, though? I have no doubt that they did, but the kid got away scott free with no jail time. All he had to do is to check in with his probabation officer on a weekly basis. So they're running from that minor inconvenience?? Makes no sense, but I agree with another poster who said that they are weird.

This is why his probation officer was looking for him....
Earlier this month, that fear seemed to be confirmed when a video surfaced appearing to show Couch breaking his probation.
In a six-second clip posted to Twitter on Dec. 2, a blond teen strongly resembling the now-18-year-old Couch can be seen clapping and laughing during a raucous game of beer pong. He faces jail time if this is true.

I'd look around Switzerland, at famous luxury resorts. The word affluenza raises my blood pressure every time I think of it. How anyone, especially a judge, could be hoodwinked by that nonsense boggles the mind. I am an alumna and a retired employee of an Ivy League university where I came into contact with many "affluenza sufferers." I can tell you that if they flunked out of school because of excessive partying and insufficient studying, I gave them and their parents the bad news, regardless of family income. This ridiculous diagnosis, made by a lunatic psychologist has, once again, been proven erroneous by this mother & son escape.

These people aren't the sharpest pencils in the box. Authoritites only need to follow the money trail. All 3 of them need to be in jail, if you ask me.

The great state of......pfftt. The kid wants to drink so his mommy will do anything to make him happy. He's an alcoholic and doesn't care that he murdered 4 people.
The judge, attorney, he and his parents need to be locked up.

Why the shock that Ethan and Mom are gone. It's due to the parenting that this man is the hot mess he is, and yes, he has a hand in this.

US can look around all they want. Switzerland has an extradition treaty w/the US. However, Switzerland have been known to harbor U.S. fugitives. Think Roman Polanski.
