@momtochloe They have no shame. BTW, I read that there are ongoing studies to determine if the majority of CEO at many companies are sociopaths. Yes, that is right. The social scientists (whoever they are) are now studying the significance of being a so called Titan of Industry and whether one has to have the qualities of a sociopath to get there. Funny, I could have told them that 20 years ago. .
And, as far as the executives at Equifax goes, the statement released by the company stated that the executives sold their stock before they knew about that breach. Riiiiigggghhhhtttt.
Oh, Brooklyn Bridge, I have a buyer!

I can't remember if it was them or Experian but makes one go hmmm.
I know Discover offers a free service where they'll monitor certain dark web sites for your SSN and also monitor your Experian credit report every day and let you know if there's any new credit cards, loans, etc.
I've used Triple Alert for years and think it's worth the $50/year. It monitors Experian, Equifax and TransUnion and alerts you any time there's any activity on any of them. I've lost track of how many times I've been part of the major hacks like Target, Home Depot, etc. Very frustrating.

That's just grand. I just checked and it says both my husband and I may have been impacted. However, I was given a date in the future to actually enroll.
Based on what I've read here, I'll pass on enrolling.

FYI, yesterday I got the message to come back on 9/11 to finish the enrollment process. No mention of whether or not I was part of the hack. Just decided to try again and now it's telling me that I was.
For all those that got the same message I originally did, you might want to try again and see if it tells you yes or no.

I pay LIFFELOCK ANNUALLY and never bear from them. I don,t pay Triple A, and just heard from them, nothing suspicious. I save the alerts, so I,'ll check. I will also call LIFELOCK.

I saw the ad last night. It's Experian.
Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out.
I saw on Twitter a class action lawsuit has been filed in Oregon.

Saw a commerical just the other day that Experian is offering a one-time dark web scan. Discover just started doing this too.

Massive Equifax cyberattack triggers class-action lawsuit
Credit-reporting giant Equifax was hit with a class-action lawsuit within hours after disclosing that a cyberattack had potentially compromised personal information for 143 million U.S. consumers.
Filed in Oregon federal court late Thursday, the civil action accuses the Georgia-based company of failing to maintain adequate electronic security safeguards as part of a corporate effort to save money.
The lawsuit on behalf of plaintiffs Mary McHill and Brook Reinhard seeks an order requiring Equifax to preserve all records related to the breach and formally designating the case as a class-action for all consumers affected by the cyberattack.
Cyberbreach at Equifax could affect 143M U.S. consumers
The court complaint also seeks "fair compensation" and costs to be decided by a federal jury.

I just want to say thanks to everyone for their thoughts, experiences and expert advice on this thread. I was hoping I would be a bit calmer about this in the morning but I am still completely furious with Equifax and hope that those executives pay for selling their stock before informing those that will ultimately be hurt by this.
Thanks again to everyone for your help! ![]()
